Well been thinking of applying high gloss clear (varnish) to all the wood inside of our 2012 378XL. I think that this would add a very nice updated look to the wood and make it appear more high end. Gonna be some work but I believe the end result could be worth it. Can anyone think of a downside to a project like this.
To each their own. For me the high gloss looks like cheap plastic. I prefer the rich wood look. It's your motorhome though and you should do what you like. Good luck with your project.
I would do it the way you want. It's like watching the home improvement shows on tv. They are alway stressing what is good for resale value. We have always remodeled with out likes instead of what someone else might like.
Is the wood trim and cabinet faces in a Georgetown "real" wood? I assume the cabinet doors are but isn't the other stuff the standard RV run of the mill fine vinyl veneer? If that's the case its not going to take varnish or poly too well. You might end up with a hell of a mess.

I agree! Try an area not as noticeable before you carry on doing the rest.

My thoughts exactly. Much of the wood trim is not really wood at all and I wouldn't recommend that "light sand" process that most varnish will require for adhesion.
Beware..... Most of the "wood" on the inside of your coach, (at least ours), is just a vinyl appliqué. I know as we have some scratches in our RV, (Georgetown 360), and it's just pressed wood underneath.

I am not sure what condition you real wood is in,,,
But I would do the same as I do with every pic of wood in our home,,,
At least once a year I oil all wood with Lemon oil !!!
Makes our over 20 year old cabinets,,, look like new !!!
Not that hard to remove the vinyl moldings and replace them with real wood. You can glue them in place or use a finish nail gun. If you don't have a compound miter saw you can get a dam good Cobalt from Lowes for under $300. I have to admit I'm disappointed how drab the interior of my 012 has become already. Outside still looks new.
Most Cab & drawer fronts are Real Wood, just NOT the wood they profess to be! Face frames are Most of the time (Plood) plastic covered wood! Lots of Cherry?? listed is Cherry?? stained Oak or Popular! Dont ever try to match this Plood with REAL Cherry! Youroo!!
