Rip in awning over slide out

has anyone used a clear, heavy duty tape to tape over a small tear in their awning fabric? My bedroom awning is beginning to tear just distal from the coach side of the awning attachment. At about 4 inches away from the coach, about where the rollers end up when the slide out is in, it is beginning to fray a little. I wanted to use a heavy duty, clear tape to fix it. Can anyone give me a name or brand that they have had good luck with.
Or is it simply easier to replace the fabric. It really doesn't seem too big of a piece to replace, and it looks simple enough to do on my own.

Looking for advice and help.

Ron

They make a tape just for that you can find it at most rv stores it really works good as long as the tear isnt too big i used it on a popup once i taped both side and never had a problem after that

Warning.... The roller is spring loaded, and a lock pin needs to be in place before the fabric can be replaced. Without the lock pi, you may get a surprise that could hurt.
