Sanitary tank

How large is the black tank? I recently purchased "Campa-Chem" for use as a deodorant. It says to put in a bottle for every 40 gallons. It seems like a lot to put in if it's every time you drain the tank. Please advise. Thanks.

It depends on the rig or type of RV. I have a TT and it is 25-30 gal. I use one small bottle every time, I don't remember the size of the bottle but it comes in a pack 4 or 6 from Wal-Mart. It is strong smelling but you have to make sure there is some water in the black tank so it can be deluted.

We bought 6 -8 oz bottles at Camping World at about $6.50 a box. I didn't realize walmart sold them. I may try them next time or I also just read a posting where somebody was recommending water softer and bleach instead of these more expensive solutions.

There is a method called the GEO method. Here is a link to the website for it. I have used it a few times at the beach. I am not sure it is any better than the bottle of chemicals you can get, but it smells good.
