I have a VuQube (now called Tail Gater) and DirecTV. Never had any problems, set-up is a couple of minutes. The downside to mounted units is trees in the campground. If it is mounted, you may not get a signal.
With the portables and 50' of coax, you always get a signal. Our 5th wheel is wired for a roof mount, but I prefer my portable. I have several friends with fixed units and I watch DirecTV at all campgrounds and they watch the one or two channels they can get on air TV, because they can't get a clear sky shot. Plus the portable versions are considerably less expensive than the mounted. They have portables that auto track as well, so all you have to do is sit it down and go inside and wait for it to acquire a signal.
