ScanGaugeII
I installed a ScanGaugeII in my georgetown this week. It's an engine monitor that plugs into the OBDII port and tells you all kinds of great information. Install time was only about 10 minutes. It just plugs into the port and then you double-sided-sticky-tape it to the dash and you're done. About $160 at amazon. I've taken one drive with it and I love it.
You can also program it for a lot of ford specific data. I've tried a few of those and so far all the ford specific items I've tried have worked.
It has a trip computer so it'll tell you things like; Distance left on current tank of gas, time to empty. And for the current trip, or the current day, or the previous days it'll tell you things like; average MPG, maximum water temp, fuel used, maximum speed, etc etc. You reset the trip info in it at each fuel fill-up and tell it how many gallons you put in, so it adjusts itself and gets more accurate over time.
While you're driving you can also monitor all kinds of stuff, a short list of things it will display just from my memory;
Fuel remaining (in percentage of tank)
voltage
Outside air temp
intake air temp
manifold pressure
total engine hours
instant MPG
average MPG
throttle position (in percentage)
current load on engine (in percentage)
current horse power being made (just a guess on it's part)
coolant temp
transmission temp
speed
and lots more that I don't remember
It'll also read error codes stored in the engine computer (service engine soon light codes) and it will clear those codes and turn the light off for you.
Also, Also it's possible to do some horse power tuning with it, but I haven't tried that. And it'll record 0-60 times and other performance data, but I haven't tried that yet either.

That is nice. Simple installation. I have the Garmin Nuvi 2460LMT with the EcoRoute which has the same engine monitor. Nice part of the Garmin is it eliminates adding another device to attach to the dash or windshield. The Garmin and the TST TMS are the only two I have, which is plenty for me to watch and drive at the same time. The TST TMS has an alarm, so I don't have to watch it, just listen for the alarm which I hope never sounds.

I would like to have one on my Solera. It has no gauges. Really want it to see engine temp.

If you have a Garmin Nuvi GPS, check, it may be able to support the EcoRoute attachment. It will give you more engine checks than you will ever need.

Bought my 2460 and EcoRoute over a year ago. Nobody ask.
Are you going to buy one?

There is an App available for Android users called Torque that is only $4.95. The only additional purchase you need is an OBD2 adapter, either USB or Bluetooth. I found mine on Amazon.com for $38 (Link provided is $45 but the vendors vary on price) Bluetooth ELM 327 OBD2 Adapter. I recommend spending a little more for the OBD2 adapter to avoid the Chinese counterfeits that will fail and then you have to re-buy.
You can customize the displays to show the data you want and even add additional sensors. I used these items to save myself over $800 on the EGR system on my 96 Tracker and also helped chase a fuel consumption problem on my 99 Blazer.

Have no idea, you might just call Garmin and ask them. Don't know why it wouldn't if there is an OBD port

I've been thinking of buying the Ecoroute for my Garmin 3790 and have 2 questions for you.
Will it display transmission temps? That's pretty important to me, but I don't see it on your list and I can't find the answer anywhere else, so I'm thinking it won't.
Can you use the GPS along with the gauges at the same time? Does the GPS take over automatically when a turn comes up for your route? Or what happens? I like only have one display on the dash, just not sure how it handles the GPS and gauge operation at the same time.

Installed it yesterday. I only see options for a hand full of gauges. It does have engine coolant. That is the one I wanted most anyway.

So does the GPS kick you out of the gauges when your turn in the route comes up or what?

I cannot see the benefit of using the Garmin over the app unless you don't have a smart phone. I don't like my Harming at all for $40 for the part and a few bucks more for the app I am sold just on the ability tovread error codes if I get them

I too have the ScanGauge II for my 05 6.0 ford. No question, if you have a 6.0 diesel you need the ScanGauge. Being able to monitor the oil and water temps is huge on the 6 liter. Running at highway speeds empty on flat land you don't want to see the temps 15 degrees or more apart. If you do, IRS time for a coolant flush and cooler change. Also, the FICM needs 13+ volts and needs to put out 47-48.5 volts or you can suffer from injector coil failure. I also on occassion will check the high pressure pump pressure which requires 500psi just to start the engine.
Simply put, one of the best diagnostic and preventative tools I have.

No, it won't work with a diesel that doesn't have the obdII connection and most of the diesel chassis don't. I purchased a scangaugeD which has the right connetion for diesel chassis.
