Scratches on Corian surface

Our 2010 GT 330TS has Corian or Corian-like countertop surfaces in the kitchen. We have found that if you leave anything wet on the countertop, you will have dark coloured staining for a period of time. Also, and even more upsetting, it takes very little for almost anything to leave scratch marks whenever you slide trays, plates, coffee maker or such on the surface. If you wipe the area with a damp cloth it almost disappears, but only for a minute at best.

Anyone got a fix to remove or hide the scratch marks long term?

Thanks

Someone recommended Kitchen Magic available at Lowes in the Kitchen area. It's a like a buffing compound. I tried it and it does ok but the deep scratches are next to impossible to get completely out. We had a mild stain from a bottle that it did remove though.

This is why Corian is a bit "out of favor" in kitchens now.
Easy to scratch and stain.

We had same problem with counter top at work and had a company come out and sand out the scratches. No more counter than whats in the rv can't imagine it being more than $100. Just another option when it gets bad.

First let me say that REAL Solid Surface material is fairly forgiving compared to other surfaces. That said make sure you have the real deal, there are many knock offs. When you find out the mfgr. of your solid surface material go to there web site to see what they recommend for care, cleaning, scratch removal, and repair. Most will recommend using a 3M scotch bite pad and polish for normal use scratching. Check out the HOPES POLISH website it's often recommended. Make sure you in fact have Corian and not some solid surface type material. ALWAYS CHECK WITH THE SOLID SURFACE MFGR. BEFORE YOU DO ANYTHING.

I have been working with Corian and other solid surfaces for almost 18 years. THe sheet is finished using a random orbital sander with combinations of scotch-brite, sandpaper, and Trizak papers.
The beauty of solid surface is the repairability.
It also depends on the actual brand of solid surface you have and the ratio of acrylic to polyester resin in the material.
I would recommend contacting a solid surface shop and scheduling a re-buff. I have clients that schedule the shop to come out to their homes once a year and re-buff the top back to factory shine.
Here is some information if you want to attempt it yourself.
Sanding and Buffing Solid Surface Countertops
Pay close attention to the discussion of direction and movement of the sander. You can create pigtails or even divots if done improperly.
Good Luck

WELL SAID. X2. Remember make sure what you have is SOLID SURFACE. You could have E-STONE a SOLID SURFACE LIKE PRODUCT. Their procedures could be much different.
