Seatbelts in cab

We recently purchased a 2013 Georgetown (we are newbies) and noticed that the seatbelts in the cab are a pain to retract. The shoulder strap is attached to the exterior wall via a hook located at approximately at the level of the top of the seat. The mechanism that causes the shoulder strap to retract is located on the wall about midway from the floor to the top of the seat. Since the frame is aluminum, is this a safety issue? Also, it looks like my issue relating to the seatbelts retracting could be resolved if the mechanism that dispenses the shoulder strap was located closer to the floor if not attached to the floor (its like there is too long a portion of the shoulder strap to reel in properly). Curious to hear anybody's thoughts on this. Thanks!

That happens all the time in motorhomes as well as cars and trucks.

Practice make perfect.

When you are ready to pull you need to continue to pull out all the way needed and not stop. Then latch.
If you yank or pull hard or even inconsistant speed in pulling may latch the mechanish.

Yes you can adjust the seat belt bracket and lower.

I don't have the problem retracting the belts, my problem is pulling them out. As Iggy said you have to pull up and out slowly and pull the belt the whole way out at one time to hook them in. This is only our third trip out with our 378, still learning but love it. Bring on the questions, only way to learn. Enjoy

At least you have a shoulder belt. Our '02 only has lap belts and they're anchored to the seat frame, not the MH structure. We feel partly undressed after so many years in cars that had 3-point inertia-reel belts.

I don't have a lot of faith in Flexsteel's seat structure to restrain us in a wreck. The seats are basically a POS - uncomfortable, ergononomic disasters. They're much too long in the cushion, have no vertical adjustment and the pseudo-leather is very unpleasant in warm weather. I can't drive much over two hours without getting cramps in my hamstring muscles. DW's feet don't even touch the floor - she uses a footstool. On our last trip, the swivel on the driver's seat would no longer latch in the forward (driving) position, something that's on the "to-do" list for the off-season.

I wish I could afford to replace them with the type of Recaro seats that were in the transit coaches I drove. Maybe I should go to a bus wrecking yard and see what I can find!
