Shaky Passenger Mirror

While on my last trip, the passenger mirror started shaking to the point that it was difficult to see using it. I spoke with Travis at FR and he said it is mounted to a steel or aluminum plate. I am unable to see behind the sidewall from above or below and am hesitant in removing the bolts attaching the mirror incase the mounting block drops off. Waiting to hear back from Travis after sending him a video and picture.

Has anyone else had this happen and if so what was your resolution?

TIA

Had that problem on a rental. Adjusted for me and coated the mount with GOOP. Worked great - but not adjustable any more!!!

I had one mirror become loose during a trip. The allen screw that holds the head on the arm was loose. Yours may be the same.

I have checked all mounting screws and allen screws. All are tight. The whole mirror moves arm and head. You can actually see the sidewall flexing. Any other suggestions?

On my '99 GT, there was a roof leak, and I found out that the mirror was only mounted to the filon and luan mahogany. The mounting screws had rusted almost out of existence. The mahogany had dry rotted in that area so badly that there was no chance of a replacement, even larger, screw holding!

I bit the bullet, drilled all the way through, and used a piece of teak about 2-1/2" X 4" and stainless bolts with acorn nuts on the inside. That worked quite well.

Oh, the leak was where the front cap met the roof.
