slide out issue - sort of

The bottom of the large slide out is covered by a smooth white veneer.

The slide rollers come in contact with the veneer.

On my unit the first (forward most) roller has gouged the veneer, so that there are two tracks cut into the veneer.

The outermost foot of the veneer Has been caught in the roller and torn off.

My questions are
What is the roll of the veneer? It is not structural....

Does the slide need to come out in order to replace the veneer?

IS there another substance that can be used in a replacement of the veneer, something stronger?

Can you replace only the affected portion, or does the full sheet of veneer need to be replaced?

The slide out still functions, as as far as I could tell, there is no other damage. I am trying to figure out the best way to fix this issue.

There is another thread about this, it may be Berkshire or Coachmen. Essentially FR provided aluminum strips (under warranty) to go on the veneer for the rollers to bear against. I have the full length slideout and purchased 3 stainless strips about 6" wide to put under the rollers but so far haven't had to use them. I do keep the area above the rollers lubed down with silicone.

FR response

Got a response from FR today. They said to hyper-extend the slide out and use metal to cover the track area of the veneer. Waiting to hear how to hyper extend slide out or which metal is most suitable...

This might take longer than the actual repair...
