Sliders Sequence

What is the proper way to set up and take down/ depart with sliders? We were told, (not sure they knew what they were saying now) to put out sliders then level,

Returning take in sliders unlevel, is this correct? Last time we did that it hit the cabinet door knobs.

Thanks

Now you know why the camper should be level before using the slides or opening interior, or even exterior entry, doors.

The frame gets quite a twist when out of level and you can actually break the slide mechanism or jam the doors if severely out of level.

I level and stabilize first and then put out sliders.

Heres a link to a thread where that was discussed. Some people do it one way, some do it the other way.

Not sure of your question, but I do put the slides in while the camper is level. As herk said, the camper should be level before using the slides, whether in or out.

Yes, that's what I was asking, just badly! But that's when it hit the cabinet door handle, it was level, and I was finished packing and brought in the slides, and CRUNCH! But we also on setup, put the slides out first, then leveled, which is what we were told to do.

Slide outs go out last when arriving & come in 1st when leaving. But level or not it shouldn't hit any of the cabinet hardware! Need to watch it closely while someone else is operating the slides to see what is really going on.

My procedure

1. Find your camp spot and pull in.
2. Drive forward and back and watch my two levels I have attached near drivers console. This will basically show me if I can get as level as possible.
3. When satisfied I set parking brake and shut off engine.
4. I go outside and plug in shore power and visually check my power monitor box to insure proper volts etc. I also check to see if slides will hit anything when they go out.
5. I go back inside and start engine.
6. I turn on my leveller system and hit auto and no one is moving inside the motorhome.
7. When level I shut off engine and leveller cvontrol panel.
8. I go back and take out one slide at a time. I may even wait a few seconds between so not to over heat the pump motor.
9. After all slide are out I verify my frig is on AC power.
10. I go back outside and hookup water, sewer lines, Cable TV etc.
11. MY DW now takes care of all the arrangements inside and I stay outside.

When leaving I just reverse my steps.

Send a message via Skype™ to Falcon35
When ours was new before we even took it camping we took friends over to the storage yard to show it to them. I did not put down the Jacks. When I brought the slide back in it caught the pulls on the kitchen cabinet and pulled of some trim. Dealer replaced the trim and adjusted the slide. Now I always level first and then put out the slides. I can watch that space from where the controls are and the slide comes close but always clears.

Change # 8 I go back outside and DW takes out one slide at a time. While I watch from the outside, she may even wait a few seconds between so not to over heat the pump motor.

In that very generic motorhome manual that FR supplies there is a paragraph that tells you to level then run slides out. There is a concern about twisting the chassis/frame.

However, I believe some diesel pusher manuals are the opposite. Go figure!
