Snails on top of gas tank

So I as trying to diagnose my gas cap trouble code yesterday and climbed under to look at the gas tank connections when I found about 100 snails on top of the gas tank! I think I even saw some rat droppings - surprised me that they would be there. I got in there with a shop vac and cleaned them out and then went to Depot to get some snail killer to put around the wheels. crazy.

They probably climbed up there looking for someplace cool and moist, as hot as it has been here lately!

Norway (Wharf) rats would do the same thing, but they'd eat some wiring to boot!
