I do my own since the nearest shop that all consider doing it is $40 in fuel away.
Wally world 5W 30 full synthetic is only $17 for 5 quarts, that is an easy price. A good funnel is cheap and with that you can easily get the big jug up into the spec sideways to pour it in. Empty the first full jug, then add 2 quarts. The filter is easy. All synthetic is made the same and as a Blackrock said it is Valvolene. So hear is the big question (this has been a long disputed issue) How many quarts do you add to fill (Including a filter)?

1. My 2012 V-10 Ford manual states 5W20 Motorcraft synthetic blend oil only.
2. I installed a Fumoto Valve which makes it easy to change oil and no spills or oil all over.
3. I buy 5 quart oil container's at Walmart.
4. I also use a hand pump to add oil. Less troublesome and spills. Not many pumps.

That's a great deal. I'm going to have to check with my local dealer. I like to do all maintenance myself, but for that price it's worth it.

I don't know about some posters here, but if Ford Idaho is getting a great deal than good for him. I don't know squat about diesels but I do know retailers of all shapes, products and services will offer loss leaders to get you in the door to upsell you to something else, or worse, tell you what you brought in has a serious problem that'll cost thousands to fix. Oh yeah, we have a sale on F250's! or whatever. Perhaps they are totally honest but loss leader service deals get you conditioned to go back to the same place so when you are ready to trade-in, where likely will you go first? I'm sure any fair size Ford dealer can afford selling oil at or below cost by a few dollars in hope of selling a new truck and making thousands.
Regarding the topic of the thread, I do my own oil changes on my GT. Where its stored for the winter is a gravel parking lot and I'll change the oil right there before bringing it home. I will put newspaper or pizza boxes work great down before hand. Do the generator also at the same time. I seem to spill and make a bigger mess with that more so than the engine change. I also buy 5-20 synthetic blend usually from AutoZone that has a special every spring (or all the time?) that you get 5qts. plus filter for $27.99 or so. Just wish it was easier to get the Onan filter there too. Last year I got a Wix at Napa for like $12 or so.

Plus hazardous waste disposal and shop charges and tax should be a little more don't you think
I also like doing my own maintenance as long as I'm able. Oil change, filter, chassis lube.
Then just drop off the used oil at the local Super Walmart and I'm done.
Don't get me wrong I do let Ford do my brake flushes, transmission flush and also do inspections of all the rest underneath.

In this ecologically sensitive state, for individuals to dispose of used oil is such a hassle that it's not worth the trouble. I quit doing my own oil changes about 5 years ago.

I use my drain oil for my chain saw bar lube and share it with neighbors. We all have large wooded lots to tend to. Any surplus goes to a local auto parts store collection drop off.

Iggy, you are correct, probably about 7 or 8 dollars more, I don't have my invoice handy. To each his own, at 71 I don't care to crawl under things anymore. LOL

You guys should check around for your waste oil disposal.
Many shops like mine burn waste oil in there shop furnaces.
Some pay .50 to .75 cents a gallon for waste oil to heat there shops.

I don't know how many gallons I've taken to the Autozone. I have to admit I didn't know you could burn motor oil to heat up a place. I wonder if that's what Autozone does with theirs...sell it.

We hit 81 yesterday in Phoenix but we are expecting a cool down by Thursday. High will only be 69 degrees.

I have a wood stove in my shop, and when it gets hot enough with a bit of wood, I have a system made from a piece of stainless steel 1/4:" tubing with a valve in the middle of the tube. There is a 1-gallon funnel hung from one of the steel girders, and the other end goes through a small hole, drilled in the side of the stove.
My used oil goes into the funnel, and drips as much as desired into the stove. Illegal as heck here, but it works!
