Something on Tile Floor - Has Anyone Seen Something Like This?

We picked up our brand new 369DS with Black Diamond Package this weekend. It was pretty obvious the dealer did absolutely NOTHING in the way of cleaning and prepping for delivery. We knew we were going to take it home and give it a thorough interior cleaning anyway, so we didn't argue - we just wanted to get it home.

What we thought was dirt or dust on the floor is actually something else from the factory. It is a film or coating of some sort (looks a little like clear coat overspray). We have tried everything to get the residue off the floor - tile cleaner, acids (the kind the pro's use to get excess grout residue off the tiles after installation), and even softscrub. Nothing touches it. You can see actual boot prints on the floor and we're not talking about just here or there - it's the full length of the RV.

Has anyone else seen something like this? What could it be? I would have thought paint or other spraying functions would be away from or outside of the interior...?

Warranty??

Ouch! When I read this I thought it might be the same clear coating I had that came of easily with a razor blade. When looking at the pictures, it's not the same thing. Might have to bring it back for tole replacement.

Glue! That could be it. There's a LOT of it, but that could definitely be it. Goof Off is what I'm trying next. Thanks. I'll let you know.... (BTW, already have appointment with service to have it looked at, but might try your suggestions before giving the unit up for two weeks).

looks like dealer possibly used the" carpetmask " plastic on the floor. if used on the lino or solid flooring it will leave glue residue where you step on it. It is used to keep the carpets clean in new housing and during showings. we used it for years in the winter months and at RV shows.

Here is a web site that tells you how to remove the residue you have on your floor.
Plasticover.com
Go to the site and then to the page they have on "residue removal". Should answer all your problems. But I would print out the removal page and present it to your dealer to have him get it taken care of.

We had the same issues with our 2016 378XL. The tile floor had a haze which appeared to be left from the grouting. We took it back to the dealer 3 times and they finally got it clean. They used a mixture of degreaser and water and scrubbed by hand.

Do you know that for sure or is that just what your dealer is telling you?

Have you tried contacting FR on your own?
My experience... the factory has been very prompt (and helpful) in returning calls or emails.

**HERE** is a link to the contact page on FR's web site.

Try acetone. Maybe alcohol?

Are you able to scrape it off with a razor? If so try a Magic Eraser.

It could be left over grout.

We have personally tried vinegar, a tile cleaner, softscrub, and magic eraser, along with a plastic scraper. Nothing touches it. Dealer says they have used acetone and other harsher chemicals. Nothing is making progress. we thought it was grout haze too, at first. It's not.

I like the idea of contacting FR myself - I don't trust or like this dealer.

I would contact FR ASAP. They may know exactly what it is and have a solution.

Your last option is muratic acid., available at most home improvement stores. I think it's the only thing that can clean set grout or haze, if that is what it is. It will not damage tile but is extremely caustic so be sure to use rubber gloves and follow instructions.

Thanks, Modmike. I just reached out to FR and hope to hear back shortly. We are very upset with the dealer - the first we would have done (and the first thing we told the dealer to do) was to contact FR. The fact they waited nearly 2 weeks before contacting them is inexcusable. How do you fix it if you don't know what it is?

As for muratic acid, we thought about that, but figured it was not our problem to solve.

My floor had black goo. Looked like someone tracked stuff in there - partial foot prints. It also looked like other parts of the floor were scrubbed so hard that the pattern is gone. Don't remember what got it up. Used Awsome, True green water, Pinesol and nail brush.
