Speakers (removal/replacement)

2010 Georgetown 341DS. Jensen system(?). concluded that the radio is a piece of bargain table junk and the speakers are as well. Speakers installed on either side of driver's complartment. Covers to speakers seem to be made of plywood? and covered with fabric. They appear to be glued in place since I can't find any other attachment. I want to replace radio and speakers, probably with an HD radio and decent speakers. The radio installation should be straightforward but I need ideas about how to get speakers out, other than with a Sawzall.

Do you have any pics? Close-ups and different angles would be helpful.

She's in the shop now to attempt correcting slide problems. Seems like they've had it more than we have since we bought it. I'll get pictures as soon as I can but they don't show much. Speakers are boxed in inside the cabinetry on the driver's and passenger sides of the vehicle. I don't find any access to the speaker enclosures without major wood surgery.

I would be very interested to know how you remove the factory speakers as well. They speakers are not very good and I would like to upgrade them.

The black fabric is wrapped around a plywood panel that is glued to the cabinet. You can get it off in one piece by carefully prying a corner up and working it up. There is another panel behind it that the speaker actually mounts in. I ended up destroying that inside one to remove it. I reused the outside one by cutting a larger hole and recovering it with speaker fabric I had onhand. It really is a terrible setup they used.
