Heres a pic of offset bushings. I think these are for a vw or sandrail though. I cant find any for HD applications, but they are very common on 4wd solid ft axle vehicles, such as f250, f350 and so on.

But FT Turbs was talking about offset kingpins, not just bushings. I used offset insert bushings to increase or decrease timing gears when we raced sb Chevy's.

The bushings for solid axle king pins are straight, not tapered and made of bronze/brass to allow the spindle to rotate. The king pin bore in the axle is straight with a set screw/bolt to lock the king pin in the axle to prevent it from turning. At least all I've seen are like that.

You place one offset at the bottom and one at the top- then you can use a straight king pin. Seems kinda simple to me, just different degrees installed as a pair on each side. At least that is how I would assume it to be, thats the only way I know it would work.

All I can say is get a pair of them and try it, bet you can't get it to work by putting them in a short pc of pipe for the tapered bushings and then put a straight pin thru both of them especially if they are rotated even a little bit in relationship to each other, but if they are not, all you've done is move the kingpin front to back, not changed the inclination with respect to the axle.
The only way I've ever seen on anything except a racecar is with wedges or bending the axle.

Wasn't tryin to win, just doubt someone would make and try to sell something that doesnt work.
But maybe turbs can shed some more light on this situation.

This shows why the bushings won't work. Ack's FAQ: Your 4X4 Portal To All Things Suzuki/Geo
I'm now definitely out of here! Have a nice day.

Caster change on a GT-XL
So, it appears to me that after all the talk about being able to change caster with offset king pin bushings on a Georgetown XL is that they do not exist. So either you go with shims or bend the axle. Or leave it alone.

I just messaged my buddy that is the parts manager for Bruckners Volvo, Mack in Tulsa.
He said that they usually use caster spacers (wedges) between the spring and axle.
You will have to search some more to find bushings.

Ya gotta remember, this whole discussion started with FT Turbs said offset king pins. What can you expect? He sure hasn't produced any pictures. (As usual) when he starts blowing smoke.

Thanks, for the info. I am retired from Ford Product Development Engineering and have been around vehicles for over 48 years. I never heard of being able to change heavy truck straight front axle caster with king pins or bushing. I was hoping for something I have never heard of. Shims and axle bending are how it is usually done. Thanks again.
