Step Failure

After doing the Lippert step recall........the steps failed today ! Son in law and daughter on the way to Florida in it so getting info as they go, but from what he describes it broke in the part that the recall was to fix !!! Had the opportunity to install Kwikee steps at the time of the recall, sad now that I didnt do it ! I've had it with these steps.......what is the Kwikee part # for 2011 Gerogetown 378 ?

Thanks

Take a look at the attachment and check closely to the drop and width as they are some differences.

Cost will be the shock when you find it.

The 2012 378 uses series 25 and the part number is 902509000. Should be the same.

To be sure, look under the top step. There is a label with the part number. My 2014 378 is part #902509000. Almost $1000.!

Camping world will have them on sale for 675.00 from time to time. Watch for their ads, if you can wait. Another option is eBay. I have found them on eBay once for 400.00 from a dealer that had an open box set, just trying to get rid of them.

Before I shell out the $1000 I'd be making a call to both Forest River & Lippert. Steps were on recall and they should be responsible. Recall repair was either inaccurate or not performed correctly. I would expect one or the other to step up and either replace the steps or issue a credit toward the Kwikee. Wouldn't let them off the hook so easily for a recall that did not correct the problem.

2015 Flagstaff Super Light Steps Rusting and Twisting

I've had several problems with this RV since it was new, but this takes the cake. The steps in the rear that we use most often are rusted and the section to the left which is like a metal wall with a slot, is bending, so much so that I was barely able to slide the steps back in.

Please don't say that I should replace them with this or that...Shouldn't those steps last more than TWO years? Can anyone help me? Should I call Forest River? Or is this one of those things you just have to suck up and deal with on your own? Thanks for your comments!

Mac

We have a 2012 Georgetown 378 XLF with Kwikee electric steps. Have had two switches installed and by the time we get home, it quits working. Saw the video about twisting the prongs, but this did not help. The switch appears to have burned out, now no power to the switch. Service at Campers World only installed another switch. Any clues.

Three things I would check.
Power to the steps
Power to the motor
Or control modular is going out and only works intermediately.
I assume you meant "when you twist the prongs together" you are referring to the magnetic door switch.

If you are talking about the lighted step power switch at the entry the fuse for that switch is in the battery control center (BCC) box under the steps (where the coach batteries are). That is where it is on my 2012 GT378. Locate the BCC pull the cover and there will be a row of fuses and one of them supplies 12 volts to light the switch and to the steps to keep them out with the door closed.

Sorry so late with the follow up , but after haggling with LCI they replaced the steps and paid for 1 hour of labor to replace. Shipper to my RV service shop, New steps work much better and much quieter !!!!
