Step on 351DS 2014

The switch for the step has a Blue light that indicates the switch is on. The Blue light no longer works but the switch still did it job. After reading this forum I found others were having the same problem and made the suggestion on a replacement switch which linked me to ebay to purchase. I put the new switch in and it too didn't light up. I tried all three new switches of which none of them worked. I put the original switch back in and now my step will not retract at all unless I start the engine. I checked the 25amp and 15amp fuse that is near the house batteries and both are good. In fact, when I put the 25amp fuse back in the step retracted. Any ideas on how to fix this step so that it will retract when the door is closed?

It may be that the new switch was not exactly the same wiring configuration.
I replace mine with LED type and the terminals looked the same but had to change 2 wires to get the LED to light when on.
Time to compare the old with the new switch with an ohm meter.
Also look closely to the color of the terminals. That may help you.

Thanks for responding Iggy. Actually the new switches have the same exact wiring connections as the old one. As I stated, the old switch worked. It was the blue light that didn't work. I put the original switch back in and now my step will not retract at all unless I start the engine or pull the 25amp fuse and put it back in. Still confused.

Iggy, It's my understanding there is a 5amp fuse for the switchlight bulb in the battery control center that is associated with the step. Do you by any chance know where I may find this this fuse?

Mine is located under my steps near the coach batteries,
Here is what my box looks like.
You need to remove the cover to see the fuses.

I have attached the manual for Lippert Steps (I am assuming this is what you have). There is a wiring diagram on page 2 that shows the step switch and fuse that has been pointed out. When the switch is in the closed position (completing its circuit), the steps will open and retract with the entry door. This switch does not affect the steps retracting when the ignition is turned on.
I am guessing your fuse is blown, and therefore the switch circuit can't complete. An easy test would be to short the two wires that connect to the switch. If the steps then work with the door, the switch is probably bad. If the steps still don't work, it is probably the fuse.
