Steps sometimes not retracting
Sometimes when we close the door, the steps don't retract when they are supposed. All the proper switches are activated. I believe it's an issue with the sensor. Anyone else have this problem?

Yes... that's been stated on here before. It's just the magnet on the bottom of the screen not activating the retraction.

Yup, a hammer fixes everything.
To the OP, check the magnet. It may be perfectly aligned, but not close enough to activate the switch.

We had the same problem. We thought it was a problem with the rig at first and then I figured out it was the magnet. We just slam it or open and close it until the steps retract. Annoying, but quick fix when it happens.

At least yours doesn't open and close repeatedly as you're driving down the road....

Is yours doing that? There is a safety in place that will not allow the steps to extend if the ignition is on.

That's bad, really bad. We've been through roads that only leave inches to spare. I couldn't imagine hitting something and ripping the steps right off. I've already experienced ripping the awning off.

See if you can find the wire that tells the motor to retract when the ignition is on. If it's intermittent, it could be internally cut or have a bad connection. You may have to rewire it.

That's strange. I think that even if the signal from the engine is lost the steps won't deploy unless it thinks the door is open. It has to be the control box...maybe a bad solder joint or something.

On our 2012 378XL we are having some grief with the electric stairs . When we purchased the motorhome the dealer explained to us how to make the stairs stay out while parked in a RV park . The problem is my wife and I were so excited that we were not paying attention during this part of the orientation . We read through the manuals and have tried to override the auto close to leave them locked out but can't seem to get them to stay out . We must be doing something wrong . Any thoughts?

There is a switch by the entrance named "ENTRANCE STEPS". It will leave the steps extended all of the time until you turn the ignition on.

In my case, if I open the door, the steps extend regardless of ignition switch. DW regularly exits the coach while engine is running to alert me when gas filler is close enough to pump.
My money is on the magnet or sensor.

Yes, you are correct. The lockout is bypassed if the magnet is not touching the sensor.

I have a 2013 350 and my steps do whatever they want, the "entrance step" button does nothing more than turn the light off-on when the door is opened, the ONLY way I can make the steps stay out while parked/ camping is by unplugging the step motor! Yes I have tried everything!! I plan to install a switch in the motor circuit. It is annoying when you can't get the steps to cooperate!
