Stove Oven will not light, is there a trick?
Hello All,
New to this forum but I have been reading and learning a lot from you so thank you for all the great info. We are on our 3rd trip in our 2008 370 forest river georgetown and on our first dry camp trip and have other questions but will post in other post to keep every post to the subject.
Thanks
e

A couple of suggestions;
Have you tried to match light the burners?
If you can't you must have a problem with the propane supply. Is anything else running on propane? If there's propane in the bottle, try closing the valve then re-open very, very slowly and try again.

Dave, all else is working perfectly on propane, the stove burners are working great and the fridge get's to a cool 30 degrees on propane so I'm wondering what could be wrong with the stove part of the oven. I smell the propane, but with a long nose lighter I can't get it to light...

Gotcha. You're trying to light the oven pilot, right? Need to push in and hold the control knob in the pilot position, light the pilot and continue to hold the control in about 30 seconds until the thermocouple beside the pilot glows red. You should be able to release the control knob then turn it to the open temperature you want.

Dave is spot on. The oven is a little bit of a pain to light. Stock up on Bic or Script butane lighters. We bought one with the flexible end and it did make it a little easier. I see we both have 370s, yours is just a year newer. If you have any questions I can help with please ask away.

We got a bunch of Scripto lighters from Costco last season. I think there were six in a blister pack for about $4. We still have two left!

Has anyone purchased an electric spark igniter from the hardware store and installed it in the oven? I've thought about it as it would sure make it easier to light. My knees are getting too old!

I have found that the easiest way is for DW to hold the knob in while I light the pilot. That is the only way that I can see where I am allpying the flame.

Be smarter than me.
The first time I started our oven this season, I held the lighter to the wrong thing for about two minutes.
Finally, I looked at the book and found our pilot was on the LEFT side of the burner.
Also, it may take a while to bleed the air from the oven gas line.

That would be great if you found one that had insulation that would not burn off at 350-400 degrees in the oven. Think about it. This is not a outdorr bbq or stove top.
