Strange generator and power issues.

Hello all

I've got a 2015 350xl with a Cummings 5500 gas generator. The generator has two breakers on it, when both breakers are on I trip the shore power box. When the top breaker is off I don't trip any of the shore breakers. It's a very strange issue. I'm sure this is very vague but if anyone is having these issues maybe we can figure it out together.

Thanks for your time

Joe

Do you have an automatic transfer switch? If so, I'd say it's a problem with that switch.

Why are you running the genny when plugged into shore power? This is how I understood how you wrote it. If you are powering the genset when plug in what you are doing is backfeeding the shoreline and the genset can not keep up with the demand. It is not doing it on the one breaker due to it being not used at the pole I would assume.

Believe Generator is default power supply. If any power is coming from gen set it will disable (hold at bay) the shore power from closing.

Sorry it was late when I typed it.

So the generation is off when I'm hooked into shore power. It's like the generation is back feeding and kicking the breaker in the house. I'm thinking I may have a issue with my generator.

Otherwise whichever feed breaker is faulty. Start by opening all circuit breakers on RV, energize shore and close one at a time.

I am thinking like trempert. If you have a transfer switch chenk to make sure it is working properly. Only one relay should be energized. Be carefull high voltage is present in the transfer switch box. If in doubt get someone that knows

Just wondering if 240 volt (2X 110 circuts was connected to an idle genset, it would appear as a short circuit, I doubt you would get a second chance.
