suspension/steering on Georgetown 300
While I don't claim to be an expert, just thought I would post my issues and fixes. My first drive it felt like the front didn't track well and every correction was a "white knuckle" experience. The salesman told me I was just over correcting and I would get it down with more experience. He suggested I also drive "looking farther down the road". After numerous trips with no improvement I contacted Keith at Redlands Truck and RV. Most of my trips were on the I-10 corridor toward Indio CA (known for high winds, trucks and grooved lanes). I explained that the front end would wander, and it felt like the back was pushing me around to Keith. He suggested a front end alignment, new Koni FSD shocks, and a rear trac bar. I had trouble biting the bullet on the shocks as my rig only had 2,000 miles but I went for it. Keith was great to work with, highly recommend their shop.
The shocks took care of a bouncing problem I didn't even know I had (due to white knuckle/fear just keeping it on the road), the alignment fixed the wandering issue completely, and the trac bar fixed the rear end pushing me around. With these fixes I actually relaxed while driving.... but I still added Sumo springs front and rear to eliminate additional body roll which worked great!! If anyone is having similar issues, don't believe those that say you can fix it with experience. Most of the time it is a mechanical issue and can be fixed. Good luck to you..... sorry for the long post!!
