Thinking about selling our 2013 351DS

The DW and I have been talking about the possibility of selling our MH. I initially bought it since we have summers off (working in the education fields). However, we're finding that we're only using it a couple of weeks out of the year. So, does it really cost justify itself? Does anyone else have these conversations? How or where do you find fair market value if I decide to go down the selling route if the equation?

We are also educators w/summers off... (Love my job/students but others should not envy... I work with challenging behaviors & make less than when I was self-employed...) With our TT payment of $180/month, extra cost of using TV to commute, repairs, etc. plus factoring campsite reservations vs. hotel room, our break-even point is 21 days. If we camp less days, it would be cheaper to book a nice hotel (although we would need to share it with 3 kids...). Last year we camped over 30 days & this year it will be over 40. We & kids are making new friends & enjoying outdoors together vs. kids glued to video games so IMO a great value...

However, the Georgetown is an expensive ($80K+) investment to only use a couple weeks per year. Even if you paid cash, your probably losing $6K+ per year to depreciation plus the cost to maintain, insure, etc. Personally I would love to own a Georgetown/Berkshire to take our family out west, but cannot afford one right now...

IMO the best way to determine what your MH is worth is to monitor RV Trader sales & local CL sales. Contact folks who actually sold theirs & see what the final negotiated value was vs. NADA which can be well-off the mark...

We bought our used '11 TT from a dealer because folks on Craigslist wanted the same/more but could not offer the pressure test & caulking, PDI, etc. that the dealer included. IMO I would not buy from a private seller unless they were 5% - 10% below a dealer & had proof that the unit had just been inspected & serviced by a professional...

Not sure buying an RV based on cost, depreciation, operating and repair costs is ever a good idea. But you can't put a cost on a good time. I have memories and friends I've made RVing I would never have had in a motel or staying home.
