Time to lose the TT

Hello,

After a year of the FR Wildcat 28RKX TT, it looks like we're about to pull the trigger on a 2011 Georgetown 357QS. It's got 11,000 miles on it. It's very clean and they'll fine tooth comb it, before we pick it up. Any comments on this model? Things to look out for? Thing to be super excited and happy about?

I look forward to input from the forum!

Be well,

Kramer

The payment book!

Hope you enjoy every moment!

P.S. - 8.1L IS a towing monster! We have the GMC version - 2004 Yukon 2500 XL with the 8.1L. I find it funny that it ALWAYS gets 10.3mpg no matter driving empty or towing heavy!

Congratulations Kramer on your new rig.
Being in Southern California you need to watch for the SoCal FROG rally in Hemet Ca.

We currently own a MAXX 24RG and are going to buy a 2nd MAXX as we leave the 24RG in Seattle. Our 2nd MAXX of choice is a 28RKX and I'm wondering if you'd care to comment on how well it worked out for you. Thanks in advance, Ron

Hi Ron,

Wow! Two TT's!!! Congrat's!

As a first timer, I musty say that the 2012 28RKX worked out really well for us. My wife (who, let's face it, makes all the decisions) and I, really dig the rear kitchen layout. In general, the performance, fit/finish and amenities suited us quite well. I had very few issues:

1. The fresh water fill leaked into the bathroom, via the loose hose clamp, on the backside of the fill spout. This was easily rectified by removing a drawer and tightening the clamp.

2. Someone who looks EXACTLY like me tried to "improve" the water flow from the shower taps, by drilling into the exit orifice. This certainly did improve the flow; unfortunately none of the extra water flowed out the hose, just the sides and back of the fixture.

In the end, our decision to "upgrade" to a coach, had to do with small things that just seemed to push us in that direction:

We wanted a larger bedroom.
I got tired of all of black iron parts on the exterior, rusting.
I became convinced that the exterior of the TT (fiberglass and decals) would sooner than later, stop looking "new".
And, while I realize that we now have (or will as soon as we take delivery) many other components ti deal with (engine, tranny, etc, on board genny, water filtration, etc; I am personally more impressed with he over quality of a coach build.

All of the above are likely able to be addressed by some not so difficult maintenance. The rest are only personal opinions. I love the Wildcat TT. It has taught me much and served us well.

Once the cold sweats stop, I'm sure I'll be fine.

Send pics of the new MAXX. They're way cooler looking then mine!

Be well,

Kramer

Hmmm...I never thought of that.

So:

TT , followed by MH, followed by Fiver. Well, I guess it can't hurt for us to have eventually owned one of everything. Part of me hopes that you're not right...for at least a year or two!!! ;-).

I have seen some incredibly bitchen 5th wheels.

Advice and wisdom always appreciated, Thanks for ringing in.

Be well,

Kramer

Great looking coach. We did the same tt to a 351. With all our grandkids we love the bunks but still plenty of room when it's just the 2 if us.

Enjoy and happy travels.

Steve-- thank you so much for your detailed explanation on you ownership of the 28RKX. I know you'll enjoy the Class A as we've owned 3 diesel pushers over the past 15 years. As you already know, every type of RV has it's own advantages and disadvantages. We decided to go from a 40' Allegro Bus to a Class B Winnebago ERA ( Mercedes Sprinter 24' van) in 2012, however after a couple of years we decided it's just too small to spend much time in. Today we spend more time sitting in RV parks than we do going down the road so travel trailers work best for us. Some may ask--why not a 5th wheel? Easy answer--we just didn't want to drive around on a daily basis in a 3/4 ton pickup. A Ram Laramie 1/2 ton with air suspension, Hemi, and 392 rear end will pull both travel trailers perfectly. Thanks again, enjoy the MH!!
