They may be factory run for break in. Smokey Yunick told me what I posted in 1978 on my new 78 Chevy Heavy Half. IMO, he was GOD of IC engines!

All 5 20 oils are semi synthetic .That is the only way they can get the viscosity down to the 5 20 rating that is required by the engine manufacturer. The engines of today have much tighter tolerances . Many of the cars today come with full synthetic oil right from the factory . Not changing to synthetic oils until the engine is broken in went out many long years ago.

First off, "All 5 20 oils are semi synthetic." is pure bunk, there was 5-20, 10-30,etc LONG before synthetics we even dreamed about. I worked at a station in 1955 that had multi weight oil. In 1974 Mobil 1 synthetic engine oil was commercially introduced in the USA setting new standards in lubrication technology.

Secondly, IF you read my post, I said "Put whatever the engine mfgr says in it until after it's broken in!".

I diffidently would change the oil. Synthetic is the way to go now days in the newer engines. Most new cars and trucks now come with the Synthetic oils. Been using in all my new trucks since 2008. Later RJD

Change it! My Vette has Mobil 1 synthetic oil from the factory. It's computer keeps track of my mileage automatically and let's me know when the oil needs to be changed. I retired and last year no longer drive it every day. But the computer readout said the oil needed to be changed,(with very little mileage since the last oil change). I called Mobil 1 for clarification. They told me the additives in the oil break down not only with heat from driving, but as a result of time as well. And even with little actual mileage driven it should be changed at least once a year. Cheap insurance !!

We believe it's been sitting at the dealer since February or March of 2014. Yes, almost 18 months. I'm anal about maintenance and will be using a Motorcraft Filter along with Motorcraft 5w-20 Synthetic Blend (6 quarts). We do have 2 additional short trips scheduled after or Myrtle Beach vacation.

So, should I change the oil before our trip or before we put her away for a long winters nap..

Thanks everyone..

5000 miles or once a year, running or sitting, which ever comes first.
Synthetic oil from the getgo. They come from the factory with synthetic.

Not on point with the Oil change but make sure you take your unit to get a wheel alignment within the first 6 months of purchase and before any long trip. FR will reimburse you for the cost. Could potentially save you cost of new tires getting prematurely worn out.
