Tow Vehicles

I am looking for a list of vehicles that can be towed behind a Class A. Year, Make, Model, Transmission.

Does anyone have such a list? Or can you post the type of vehicle you tow. Am looking to buy a new car, and want to be sure it is one I can tow... prefer 4 down. I would rather look for the car, rather than look at cars and then research whether it can be towed.

Thanks much.

Fitz

Here is a good place to start:

Downloadable Dinghy Guides | MotorHome Magazine

Do not trust what the salesperson at the dealership tells you. Insist on seeing the owner's manual for the vehicle you are purchasing to make certain that it can be towed. Look for a section in the manual called "recreational towing" or similar. Also be aware that some options may change the ability to tow behind a motorhome.

Make certain the weight of the towed vehicle is within the capabilities of your motorhome.

Have a good braking system for the towed vehicle.

Many of us like to tow a Jeep Wrangler, as they only need a tow bar, baseplate, braking system and lighting hookup. There are numerous other choices available. Some vehicles will require a driveshaft disconnect, transmission fluid pump, etc.

Tow Vehicles

We tow a 2015 Jeep Latitude 4x4 with a Active 2 transmission behind our 2017 Georgetown 30x3. It MUST have the Active 2 transmission in order to tow with four wheels on the ground. Then we brought it to where we bought the motorhome to have it fitted to go with the Blue Ox on the motorhome. It is easy to hook up, only a few steps inside the jeep, then we are ready to go.

We tow a 2016 GMC Acadia Denali AWD with no problems. There are 7 of us so we needed the larger car. The Terrain *should* also be towable (sorry, I don't have experience with this model though) if you want a smaller car.

FYI, just got the GMC catalog in the mail yesterday....looks like redesigned models coming out for 2017 of the Acadia, Terrain and Sierra.
