towing a toad

setting up my Georgetown to tow a toad. was wondering what you do to protect your dinghy from rock and road debris. I understand that a full length mud flap across the rear of the coach may do more harm than good. Does anyone have any experience with the "Guardian" shield by Roadmaster? Does it work? Easy to take on and off? Any help would be appreciated

we dont use any protection on our jeep about 7000 miles on two jeeps combined and 2 dif MH 1st a "c" and now see my sig
no stone chips PERIOD

I have been towing for over a year and have only the factory mud flaps. I have no marks or chips on my toad and I have been on many gravel roads.

I have the "Hula Skirt", and found it worthwhile to move it to the new MoHo.

We still get a few rock chips, etc., but what the hey. Probably less than the mud flaps would get.

All it cost me was a bit of time to move it.

I have used a Rock Solid Mudflap on my last two Motorhomes, and i think it helps. The car still gets some chips, but I think less than with just the normal mudflaps.

I moved my Rock Solid from my last MH to my Georgetown. I didn't like the idea of attaching it to the bottom of the fiberglass bumper, so I used a piece of 1" angle aluminum to span between the frame rails just ahead of the hitch. I attached the Rock Solid to that (it comes in two pieces, so it needed support to span across the frame rails).

I like a few rock chips. Makes her look mean! Seriously I have a full mud flap and it seems to work well at preventing chips or windshield damage.

I have an Ultraguard flap from camping world.

The only thing it cant protect both my towed vehicles from is a gravel road. The gravel will bounce under the flap and sometimes kick up. My wife described them like bouncing footballs. It doesnt matter much with my Ford Edge but I would find little rocks on the roof of my Honda fit.

The best protection ive seen is a Protect-a-tow. But it requires more setup and installing some hook spots on the car. I just unhook on gravel roads now.

Protective Bra's do more paint damage than the odd stone chip..We have pulled toad's over 40.000 miles and don't find it an issue.

I have two scrub marks on my Liberty from the Chrysler factory bra! I took it off and threw it away. It was flapping in the turbulence from the MoHo just enough to rub partially through the clear coat.

We have the Ultra Guard from Camping World as well. I haven't noticed any gravel up on the car but I haven't been on too many gravel roads where I was traveling with much speed.

little off topic, but NOT how to tow the toad lol.

but i would think a skirt either solid or the bristle type would be good. ever noticed how many rocks end up on the tounge of a trailer after a drive on gravel?

Thanks you all for the good advice. I notice that the ultra guard comes in 16" and 20" heights. Any recommendations?

3 different MHs with 3 toads. Minimal damage to the cars with no protection. Probably no more than you would have with normal driving. I personally think the Guardian would be a waste of money.
