Transmission and brake fluid service

My 2011 378 is now 4 years old and I think it is supposed to be due for service on the tranny. Did anyone have it done? Also the brake fluid is supposed to be changed. Anyone do that?

I also have a 2011. I took it into the dealer for the brake fluid change about 6 months ago. They tested the brake fluid and said it did not need to be flushed out and changed. They said they test it for moisture and if it's OK then a flush and fill is not required. Just test it every year and if it gets moisture in it then flush and fill. As far as the transmission I think it is more mileage driven than date driven.

Our 2012 is built on a 2011 F53.
The owners manual says 60K miles for a transmission fluid/filter change, doesn't say anything about time.

You can download your "Owner Guide" here.

I had the brake fluid flushed and replaced on my 2010 Georgetown last winter. It took about an hour and cost $180 at Gator Ford in Tampa. I have had good results going there for service. They are next door to Lazy Days RV and service lots of Ford motorhome chassis.

Most "shops" try to change brake fluid every two years. Most manufactures say 3 to 4. If a shop tests it for moisture and calls it good, then they are doing the right thing and not over servicing. Brake systems have issues when the fluid retains too much moisture.

I think the manual calls for every year. I asked the dealer to change it last November when I was in for an oil change. They tested it and said it was like new, and would be a waste of money to change it.

I have mine serviced at a shop that looks after all the trucks for a large gas utility. They automatically test the fluids including the brake fluid and the owner told me the same thing.
