Where can I pick up Rt. 301 S

Are you coming down I95? Looks like you can pick up 301 right at the border of NC. If you are wanting the quickest easier route I usually come straight down I95 then take I26 to Charleston. The ramp for 301 past Santee has been closed for construction for a while. To get to 301 west you need to detour thru Santee if it is still closed.

Sorry I cant help you with that. Don't know much about 301 up in that area

Get off of 95 in Delaware right before the toll booth, Route 896 south and it will run you right into 301 south. There are some traffic lights thru the Newark area then scattered ones in Middletown but still a nice ride and less stressful then 95. I am actually driving that route today but northbound from right around Fort AP Hill.

If you must avoid the tunnel, have you considered just using the beltway around Baltimore? I think you would have to get off 95 around Elkton, MD and then be traveling on small roads through small towns if you want to travel on Rt. 301. As long as you are not traveling during rush hour, the beltway would probably save you some time. The tunnel really isn't that bad.

This is what their website says: "Code of Maryland Regulations (COMAR) govern the transport of hazardous materials across our toll facilities. Under these regulations, vehicles carrying bottled propane gas in excess of 10 pounds per container (maximum of 10 containers), bulk gasoline, explosives, significant amounts of radioactive materials, and other hazardous materials are prohibited from using the Fort McHenry Tunnel (I-95) or the Baltimore Harbor Tunnel (I-895). The Francis Scott Key Bridge (I-695, the Baltimore Beltway) is a convenient alternative route for crossing Baltimore's Harbor."

Sounds a little archaic to me. I don't think many Rvs are sold today with only 10 gallon tanks. I have not towed through this tunnel, but have contacted other tunnels where I was towing and was told that my tanks ( two 30 pounders ) were ok, but they preferred to have the gas shut off while traveling through.

Hi, I am from Bridgewater, nj. Have many trips to SC .
Take 295 in NJ to Del Memorial bridge to 95S.
Get off at exit 64 in MD onto 695S toward Essex. Go over the Francis Scott Key Bridge. (He wrote the Star Spangled Banner).

695 gets back onto 95 S.

You cannot go through the Tunnels in MD with propane.

Otherwise, follow dblr's or intercept's routes. Both are good, though I favor intercept's because I favor highways.
