Upgrading 370XL Bedroom TV

I'm thinking about upgrading the TV in the bedroom of my 370XL to a LCD Flat Screen HDTV/DVD Combo unit. Has anyone attempted this yet? That TV does not have a Digital Receiver so if not connected to Cable or Satellite come June 12th it will be 45 lbs of useless TV. Most of the TVs I've been looking at are around 20 - 25 lbs. for the 22" or 26". Either one will fit and I plan to mount it to 3/4" plywood where the old TV is mounted, paint it black and go from there. Any ideas???????

I'm thinking about the same change for my 370XL. Was thinking of mounting the TV on a slide/roller so I could move it back when not in use and have access to the space.

Another option would be a swing arm... Pull it out and have access to the space.. maybe get sneaky and put a small fireproof safe back there.

There's definitely quite a bit of space there. I haven't figured out which TV / DVD Combo unit to use yet. It doesn't appear to matter which side the DVD player is on since there's sufficient spacing on both sides. Where would you mount the swing arm?

Regarding the swing arm I was thinking of a side mount. I haven't looked back there in awhile. It might need a piece of plywood to reinforce the side. Can't remember if it's just a thin veneer between the TV bay and the wardrobe.

????, A cable box or Satellite receiver IS the digital receiver therefore the TV is irrelevant, it is just a monitor, in fact I wished they would make more TVs that were just monitors without the tuner built in, would be cheaper. Am I reading that you don't have satellite? If so I understand your dillema.

As for combo units my theory has always been that they are just the mediocre of two items. If either the DVD player or TV fails you through the whole thing away, kind of a waste.

Is your existing TV a CRT type? Ours came with a 20" LCD in our bedroom and it weighs in at less than 5lbs I think. Do you not have a connection to the DVD up front in the rig?

Our 378 came with the DVD/surround sound up front with a switch box that allows you to send either the satellite/tv, DVD or Aux input signal to either of the two TVs in the rig independently or to the jack in the outside compartment.

I have Satellite but it only goes to the front TV because it's a Tivo Unit that has both cable leads going to the receiver. The TV we received is not a LCD. It's a full size 20" Flat Screen TV. There's no place to put a DVD player other than in the closet or open the top drawer and place a tray on the drawer so the DVD has some place to sit. It really isn't too practical to set up to watch movies in the bedroom. That's why I'm looking to install a HD / DVD Combo TV back there.

I have a setup similar to cfsoistman. 370 with a 20" CRT in the back. I have the LCD up front with an Inmotion SAT. DirecTV receiver (not Tivo) up front. The switch box will send whatever feed back to the rear TV. I bought a wireless IR extender so we can change the SAT channel from the back while the kiddo sleeps.

My thinking was to pull the 20" CRT, replace with an LCD that has a built in digital tuner and put the LCD on a swing arm. Keep the SAT receiver up front (still use the IR extender) and slide a DVD player behind the TV. Should be tons of room back there, so I was also thinking it would be a nice place to put a small fireproof safe.
