upholstery cracking/peeling

We have a 2012 Georgetown XL - 378TS with 4,000 miles on it. Use it only on weekends. Last year we noticed the two front captain chairs were cracking and the materials was breaking down. Had to fight with the local dealer to get them recovered. Now we have noticed the recliner chair and couch are having the same problem with the material breaking down, cracking and peeling. We keep the motorhome outside but we close all the curtains/shades and open all the vents. Anyone else have this problem? Any suggestions?

wow. It might just be that the fabric is not the best. Your best bet would be to bring it to an auto upholsterer and have them recover them using high quality material. Any quality shop would be able to help you.

You aren't the first one to have problems with the seat fabric wear. Do a search on this forum for fabric and you will find more than one thread complaining about the Georgetown fabric wearing out early, some even while under warrantee. There are ideas on replacement provided by some members. Mine is less than a year old, so I'm keeping my fingers crossed that they've improved the quality in the last two years. Especially since we're full time. Good luck!

I think you'll find that replacing the furniture is cheaper than to re-upholster. However, search this Forum because I recall some who have found the manufacturer and model numbers on tags under the driver/passenger seat have purchased new covers from the O.E.M. When my sofa covering goes I already have picked out the new replacement jack knife couch

This happens a lot when people clean the chairs with harsh cleaners
I use only mild soap and water.

Same problem with my 2007 378. I had the Fibrenew people take a look at it, and they said the material is too cheap to be repaired. Only option is to reupholster (very expensive) or replace furniture.

Same situation here. The front driver and passenger seats have deteriorated, as have the Euro style seats in the living area. The sofa was the worst, we just got rid of it. We may look into new upholstery for the Euro seats and seat covers for the front ones.

Have the same problem with the captains chairs on a 2014. I called Williamsburg Furniture who manufactures the OEM units. Of course the two year warranty had just expired (should have called a month earlier) and they would not replace anything. They do sell replacement OEM covers (entire seat) for $175.00 each plus shipping. This is a lot cheaper than buying new furniture or having the chairs recovered by an outside shop.

I noticed the problem in a couple of Georgetown's I recently viewed. Looked like cheap fabric and sun damage.
