VIN #question

I purchased a 2012 Georgetown 351 yet the title indicates 2011.
Is there a VIN for the engine/chassis, in my case a Ford, and a different number that would indicate a Forest River model year?

Thanks for any help,
Rich

I don't think that is all that uncommon they start a new year coach before they run out of last years chassis. I bought what was a 2011 sunseeker titled as such in new york and when i titled it in Iowa they titled it as a 2010 because that is what the vin number said it was.

If it's a Ford chassis, send me the vin, I can look it up on Fords system and tell ya what Fords got it designated as....

We ordered our 2008 Georgetown at the Hershey Show in Sept 2007. At the time I was working for Ford. When I call the dealer to check on the order, he gave me the VIN and I ran it through Ford Oasis at our shop. It said my chassis was built Sept 29th 2007. In Pennsylvania my Motorhome is registered as a 2008, but Ford has it as a 2007. I guess they change their MY in Jan, not like the cars.

I found out that was pretty common. Our 2005 370TS has 2004 Ford chassis. When I looked into it a little more I found there is no 2005 Ford Chassis. Ford went from 2004 to 2006, so pretty much anything on a Ford Chassis from 2004 to 2006 could be on the Ford 2004 chassis. It just depends on when the builder got their chassis and if Ford had switched over yet. The VIN will tell you, but it makes a difference if you need parts. You need to make sure you specify a 2004 Ford F53 chassis even if you might have a 2005 or 2006 motor home.

My 2008 Lexington has a 2007 vin but the title is indeed a 2008, As it was explained to me the RV manufacturers buy several chassis and when they complete the RV is when the certificate of origin is issued so if the RV was started say in December and finished in say Feburary it could have a vin number that is older then the actual manufacture date of the house.

Thanks to all.
From all the responses this sounds common.
My only concern was trying to sell it as a 2012 when the title says 2011.

I commend you for having higher standards than the dealer that sold it to you.

Your dealer should be able to correct the title for you. The Vin is based on Fords build year for the chassis, But the model year of the coach is based on Forest River model build year. The same issue came up for me and my dealer resolved it.
