Well...it happened to us...

The Sharp combo microwave and convection oven died last night. No lights, no nuthin. Checked circuit, checked plug all good. Guess we are on the way to Lowes or HD. Durn it.

It did get used...A LOT!

Check to see if there is a recall on the unit. I checked ours and even though the warrenty was out I found out there was a recall and received more money back than a new one cost. Just google the model and serial number.

Well...it happened to us...

It could be the fuse on the inside of the microwave.

I had a GE convection microwave and it was the power pack. Local repairman fixed it for $100 and no problems afterwards. By the way, the estimate was free as it is an easy check. You might want to consider this as it is more economical than buying a new one and trying to fit it in your enclosure.

Ditto wrapperman...remove cabinet and follow power cord route..
Fuse will be right there. Happens a lot.

If it is the old Sharp Model R-820 that was in hundreds of units that did not have an oven IT IS NOT AVAILABLE

I found ONE ONLINE in White and ours was black. Found a Few Sources for a Sharp R-830 in black but had to pay a dear price for it

If you use the Convection, it is better than most but in hind sight the Camping World has a Dometic that is also a Micro/Convection that fits the hole and has a new trim facing to go with it for less money

Good Luck TOM

Power fuse inside microwave. remove cover and replace. ace hardware or electrical supply store has fuses rated for microwave. make sure you replace fuse with same size and rating.

Hope this helps Tim

microwave

I have repaired a few of them in the past.. like mentioned above pull microwave check fuse first if blown replace and start up microwave if it sounds different then it has all along making different noise when heating the magnetron is probably going which drew to much current blowing the fuse. make sure if you replace fuse get a slow blow fuse same size.

Thanks for all the input folks. Found that the magnetron had crapped out and blew the internal fuse. Had to buy another and just got done with the install. At 70 plus pounds it took two of us "grown" men to remove and replace but the DW is happy to be able to bake again!
