Wet Awning
On our maiden voyage we pulled the awning out and was surprised to find water dripping off of it. We sort of thought that maybe it had been washed at the dealer & rolled up wet. It was dry when we rolled it up but today I wanted to check it, so we pulled it out and it was WET on both sides. Water rolled off as we opened it and dripped from the underside once it was out.
We never had water collect in/on the awning of the Trail Lite so assumed this one should be dry as well but it was wet from the outside edge all the way to where it's attached to the roof.
Is this normal?
If not, can anyone guess what might be the problem and how to fix it?

Wet Awning
We are experiencing the exact same thing on our Rockwood. I have no clue why or if there is a fix. The only thing I know to do is unroll it every couple weeks and dry it out to avoid mildew.
Just thought I'd let you know you're not alone, hopefully someone else will have answers. Also, since yours is new, maybe your dealer will help.

Our awning gets wet any time it rains when rolled up. I open it every once in a while to dry it out. I believe the water runs in at the metal covering and ends up on the top of the material. Since the awning rolls out from under in a clockwise direction the water ends up on both top and bottom of the fabric. I don't know of any fix for this, it's just the way it's designed.
If you should have frost in your area and leave the wind sensor turned on the box will start beeping. Found this out at 1:30 AM a couple years ago when my daughter came home from work. It was about 2 degrees out that night and the box was chirping non-stop.

Times X for our power awning.
I have to unroll it after every rain to let it dry out too.

The Trail Lite must have had a waterproof section at the top so when it rolled up, that strip covered the awning. We're going to build a garage for the MH so that will eliminate the problem but it is going to be a PITA to have to worry about drying the awning after every rain until then.
It would seem that the awning fabric would have to leak in order to get the entire roll wet. Do the awnings leak in the rain when open?

I was looking at the roller the other day and a slot is facing out. I think the rain runs down the slot and into the roll. (best guess)

Mine does it too. I think the water wicks in from the ends
rather than soaking thru the vinyl coated fabric.
I also think the awning drum adds to this.
There are grooves in the drum which make perfect little
channels for water to run in from the ends.
I think a smooth drum would be a better design!
We open ours every time we go camping whether
we need it or not just to let it dry out.
Mildew is a constant worry but so far we've only had a few
small incidences of it.

Add me to the club, as well. I have looked at ways to fix it, but so far, ZIP.

I have the same problem.
I think the rain comes in on the ends when it rains.
It doesn't seem to roll up as tight as out manual awning did.
Lots of wrinkles.
I cleaned mine real good last year and when we went out a few weeks ago I was shocked when I unrolled it.
Mildew all over the place.
The best idea so far is maybe using a large plastic soda bottle.
Cut the bottom out of it and slit the side so that you can slide it over the ends of the awning. (slit facing down)
I haven't tried this yet but after I clean up this mess I have got to do something.
We can't roll it out without moving the trailer out of it's storage spot on the side of the house.
It's a real pain.
I take pride in how clean our rig is and to roll out the awning and see that makes me sick.
