We sleep okay in ours, but wish it was a tiny bit longer.

wireless from hardware store. 2 screws on the outside unit and 2 on the inside piece, runs on a battery. NOT to pricey.

We have the short queen, just pull the mattress down a little and put a body pillow and a regular size in the new opening at the head. works for us.

The queen in our travel trailer was really short. My feet would stick out and I'm only 5'11". We had to do what you just described. Now on this coach, the queen is a bit longer and my feet don't stick out...they are right at the end of the mattress. I didn't know there were different queen bed lengths.

The RV beds are shorter and have curbed ends, regular House mattress are longer and Sleep Number is the only mattress that comes in expanded models. Hope this helps.

We went to a reupholster shop and bought a piece of 4" thick foam, pulled the mattress forward, placed it inside the queen mattress cover. When the slides close, the foam compresses with no problem.

Other Mods:

. DW made an insulated "drape" to cover the window above the bed and stop the cold drafts.

. Rebuilt the dinette table to make rigid and covered the cushions in vinyl.

. Oxygenics shower head.

. Replaced sofa with a double recliner and barrel chair with recliner.

. Put a shim in the driver's chair to make more level when going down the road.

. Added the little wingman thingy to the TV antenna.

. Made little compressors to squeeze down the sewer hoses for storage.

. Replaced failed and obsolete microwave with an under counter unit requiring some strengthening of the cabinet mounts.
