When did you replace your Georgetown tires?

Hi all - just purchased a new set of Yokohama YR023's (22.5") replacing Michelin's. Very nice ride, no road walk. I did some research & ended up buying these 1 for the price & 2 they were recommended by a longtime friend who has a truck tire service business & an RV. They are an all position tire & height wise, very close to the Michelin that we had on there.

Replace my fronts at 7 years,29360km (fall of 2013) did the backs this fall 43920 km. We talked once before about driving lights and I remember you are from the county. He offers the best price anywhere in our area. $525 ea. no tax(Michelin 235/80R 22.5) That's installed and he comes to your house. He charges no tax because he works off the Reservation Shannonville area. One other thing I heard you sold a Bell receiver to my sister in law Rita. Small world eh.

KenandTerry, see the message I just posted. 47,000 miles and the front tires were beginning to separate. They are 5 years old, and I replaced them with Toyos.

Just replaced the Michelins at a little over 5 yrs and 24000 mi. They showed little tread wear, but were beginning to show quite a bit of sidewall cracking. Replaced them with Toyos.

Just replaced my 4 back tires with 16 ply Bridgestones. They were 10/09. So now I have a matching set and good to go for another 6/7 years. Good riddance to explosive Goodyears!!!

To keep this thread going I replaced my Michelin tires on my Georgetown just a week ago.
The original tires date was Oct 2011 and I had over 42,000 miles on them.
Front tires showed edge wear and sidewall cracks. Back were in better shape.


Replaced them with Toyo tires 245/78/22.5 which are 14 ply and same weight class G.
It cost me to have them installed with balancing and tax $2,560
If I replaced them with Michelins it would have been $3,500
They ride the same and may even be a bit quieter.

Replaced all 6 tires a year ago. From their appearance, I had thought the prior owner had replaced them shortly before selling us the unit 3 years ago. However, when I date checked them at an SKP'S park, I found out they were 10 years old. Apparently the original tires on my 2005 Georgetown. Never had a flat but it does show that looks can be deceiving. About 47,000 miles on the old tires.

There have been some tire shops that have been found to have sold tires that were out of date,,, or at least older than they should be !!!

My tire expert said 10 years on Michelin tires. You really need to check the sidewalls for cracks, if you see any, replace the tires. I'm going on 9 years now. My rig is not parked in the sun very much so not much damage gets done. Take your rig to a tire expert and have them look at your tires if you're concerned. Better safe than sorry.

I talked to a Michelin rep. at the FMCA rally a couple weeks ago. I asked him when I should replace the tires on my coach. We bought our 2012 Georgetown in the spring of 2011 and the tires were made in week 48/2010. He told me I should have my tires checked by a Michelin shop that sells truck tires. As long as they are OK I can keep doing that until they are ten years old. But I need to replace them then.
