Where are roof water leaks on Georgetowns

This survey is to find out where the most roof water leaks originate from.

So far I had a water leak on the windshields upper top rubber seal, passenger’s side.

None of the above. My Georgetown leak was where the coax from the satellite dish enters the roof. Not Forest River's fault, and an easy fix.

I had an identical leak as IGGY. While driving through a hard rain there would appear a few rain drops running down on the inside of the windshield on the copilots side. My inspection of the windshield rubber gasket on the outside revealed a possible area of water ingress (appeared to not be fully seated). I applied some caulk to the suspect area and thus far no more water has entered. Saga continues.

Yes but it's to late to add. Anyway this is stickly Georgetowns. A no leak is not necessary as most have no leaks. I just want to see where most happen so I and others can do some proactive maintenance before the damage.

You counting the days for the 4th of July adventure?
Have fun.

I had the same upper right corner windshield leak on my maiden voyage. I called Mike Burnes at Forest river and was told to stop by the factory which I did since we were going that way. The windshield was removed and resealed. Its been ok ever since. Stopping there was quite an experience. The water tank was filled with water,I was hooked to a 50 amp service and told to stay as long as I wanted.

Mine was in the right front corner of the roof where they leave a channel for the water to run off the roof.

No identifiable leaks so far, but when I was on the roof to seal the cracks in the Fiberglas roof, I noticed that all four corners were very poorly sealed by the factory. Given

The amount of water that flows over those areas I'm surprised that it wasn't leaking. I'd suggest everyone take a look at those areas to be sure they are waterproof.

We have to have more useres that have had their Georgetown for many years to jump in. I plan in the near future do some work on all 4 corners.
Not sure what I will use yet.
Elastimold tape 4" wide or 6" or non-levelling sealer.

Suggestions are always welcome here.

My 2000 360SS leaked around the front running lights and the cap-to-roof seam.

I used a length of 6" Eterna-Bond across the roof, and replaced and resealed the lights.

No problems after that.

That is one of the reasons I started this to see if I need to apply Eternabond tape tot he front seam as well as the back. I have a roll that I haven't used yet which would just about do both front and back.

Did you remove any of the sealant before putting the tape on or did you just go over existing?

It was 100-degrees outside when I did it, so I just "kinda" cleaned up the old stuff, and cleaned the roof in the whole area with Keytone. Reason being, that I was using 6", and didn't have to worry about what was going on waay under it, just on the edges. Used a 2" wallpaper roller, which was all I could find at the time.

Worked well, but not pretty, since I dropped one end before I had a chance to line it up.

No second chances at 100+!

Still worked well.

Keytone? I figure its a cleaner but sorry I haven't heard of that stuff.

I'm planning to do mine really soon. I already have the special heavy roller from a few years ago using this stuff. Yes no second chances.

Fortunately I haven't had any leaks where water has gotten inside. I'm still dealing with the windshield caulk breaking away from the rubber. I notice on newer units the rubber seal is all there is. I get water somewhere along the top and it drips out of the gap in the caulk at the bottom. No evidence of any water getting in the coach.

I think ketone is a solvent and may be the same as acetone. I used 4" wide eternabond(sp?) to fix a leak in the front and had to have a pro replace with 6" wide. I either didn't clean the area well enough or 4" is not wide enough.

I currently have a 2008 Winnebago Outlook, never any leaks. 5 YEARS and 67,450 miles, we travel all the time.

We just signed (7-6-13) a contract on 2013 FR GT 351 DSF.
I am reading about so many problems
LEAKS
CEILING
SIDE WALLS SEPERATION

It sounds like I just purchased ONE BIG PROBLEM. I am very concerned now that I have read all of the problems

Just remember you're seeing a very small cross section of owners. I've owned 3 other mfgr's and all had similar problems. Remember most of them are from auxilliary equipment funished by global vendors. Most folks aren't on the forums and just fix em. Too bad, if they came here it would be easier to correct. Enjoy your new unit! If you need help, grt it here fast!
