Windshield replacement

Has anyone had issues with having a windshield replaced ? We have been trying to have ours replaced and the replacement glass will not fit.

Have they tried ordering the glass from Georgetown?

I have talked to Jeff at Forest River Georgetown. He did not mention about ordering thru FR. He suggested using OE glass. Unfortunately the insurance ordered the glass thru a different glass manufacturer and two new windshields later they still do not fit correctly.

Had ours replaced under warranty and it was shipped from FR to the dealer. Fit perfectly.

When I had my windshield replaced I also received the wrong size. Reordered and got the right size. Turns out that my unit is a 2012 378TS (made before the XL moniker applied) and not the 2012 378XL (glass is wider). The glass did not come from FR or GT. Maybe something similar has happened with the ordering of your glass.

Had mine replaced before I traded it. There is a code on the windshield to order it. Just giving the year, make and model of the RV won't get you the right one. Imagine that, squirrels half year models, arbitrary minor changes through the year guarantees no RV is built the same.

We had taken a picture of the information on the original glass and sent it to the insurance company prior to the work starting. The original OE glass is Guardian and for some reason the Insurance company chose coach glass. I had since contacted Guardian and gave them the information and they said it was no problem they still have it.
I guess the gist of this is to demand OE glass for replacement.

So as of now we are on hold until early January.

I don't know if it makes windshield replacement any easier or quicker. But, the Family Motor Coach Association has a windshield replacement program/benefit. I just joined the fmca.com and noticed the benefit listed as one of their "perks".

Yes FMCA does help, we didn’t know about the benefit thru them until after our issue started. They have been helpful in trying to get our issue resolved though. Definitely would contact them first if this ever happens again.

Thx, I have a couple of chips on my windshield that I think I'll just get fixed rather than go the replacement route at this point.

Unfortunately our chip had been repaired twice and we had to have the windshield replaced which has been a nightmare

I am on my 3rd windshield (insurance paid...). Had them all replaced at LazyDays in Tampa with no problem. Apparently, the company the manufactures the replacement glass is in Lakeland FL, so it is always quick and painless.
