Winter storage cover or indoor?
It’s getting towards the end of the season for us here in Michigan. All summer long out Class A tucks between the garage and a line of trees. It’s always plugged in and ready to go. Last year we stored it indoor at a storage facility. This year I am half considering getting a cover so we have it at home.
Anyone else have a cover and would recommend using one over storage?

We are in Pennsylvania. I've kept my current Class C in the driveway with a cover for the last 11 winters. I don't cover it in the summer when we are using it. It is too much work to put the cover off and on to do that. The exterior on ours is pretty well shot. I mean, it isn't awful but it's bad enough. i already have indoor storage secured for the new coach when it comes in and, barring loss of income, will probably leave it in there permanently. I feel like it will be much better off over time.
One thing to keep in mind if you go the cover route is to get a really good one. Not tyvek or "blue tarp". Make sure it is something breathable. Also, bear in mind it will be really heavy. You will probably need help installing it.

I would take indoor storage over a soft cover any day. We use a carport type cover in our case.

Indoor is far better than a cover. But if it means keeping it at home, the cover wins.

We put a RVport up. Friend of mine did indoor storage and had really bad mouse problem. She stores outside under a roof.

"Indoor" meaning anything that is dry, relatively rodent free, with a good roof gets my vote over any cover. Absolutely no question in my mind.
If no choice but outside, a pitched frame on the roof and shrink wrap. Many boats are stored like this. Costly. And way more work than indoor storage. A fabric cover MIGHT be better than no cover at all. (That's a subject up for a hot debate! )
Use some form of air dehumidification (boaters often use drier bags or tubs). Manage rodents (sealing, traps, repellents... another subject with many different opinions. )

Indoors is preferable any day, but there are dangers using a storage facility too. See this thread just posted today.

If you can afford the indoor storage it’s the better option especially if they can guarantee no rodents. If you store it outdoors I wouldn’t use a cover unless you’re absolutely certain it won’t rub the exterior and cause damage. I’ve never covered my TT and it makes it through our winters just fine sitting in an open area away from trees.

We have tried to find indoor storage for our with no luck in the “out in the sticks” town we live in, had an RV drive put in, park it outside, no cover. Have had 3 to 4 foot of snow on it many times. My past luck with covers was bad, they rubbed the finish. Our finish is like new after 7 winters outside. Rodents, that’s a whole different story, and we battle it every year, the chipmunks are still winning. Good luck on your decision.

Indoors 5yrs and roof and paint still look brand new. So in my opinion it pays for itself in that respect.

Don’t forget to weigh the cost of indoor storage vs an “RV-port” at home. If you have the room, that’s the truly perfect ideal situation. That way it’s close by to keep an eye on and out of the weather.

Do you put a tarp over your house while you are gone camping?
RV's are made to be outside...

Not necessarily. It may actually detract if a potential buyer doesn't need a huge RV port.
