After finding out what I have to do to winterize it I'm not sure I like "up town"

No argument here! I would have just as happy emptying ice trays, but the ice maker came with the unit, so I might as well use it. We actually don't use the water dispenser. We use a Brita filtered water pitcher.

When I blow out the water lines when winterizing, I turn on the ice maker just after pressurizing the lines. The ice maker should cycle as if it is filling for making ice and it usually blows out any water that is in the ice maker and line to it. Need to be careful though because it could get messy when the water is blown out.
