Winterizing Ice-maker

Hi All,
I will be winterizing our new Georgetown 378 for the first time this fall.
I have done this many times with antifreeze on our 5th wheels. We have never had an ice-maker or in door water so I'm not sure how to do that. Is there anything else that I'm not thinking of?

I thought that all Georgetown 378 had the same fridge.
Mine has a Dometic RM 1359 Royale Refrigerater.

Make sure to drain water out of line, just disconnect water line inside compartment that's on outside. We didnt last year and it froze and burst had to replace

I can't locate a RM1359 on the Dometic website. The closest match seems to be the RM1350. Check out the manual, page 12. A trip to the dealer may be on the horizon.

BTW (with a smile) - You may be correct about all Georgetown 378s having the same refrigerator. However, not all forum members who would like to help you out own Georgetowns.

You are right the # is 1350.
My manual is in the RV in the storage yard. They sure make it hard to winterize. That was something I liked to do myself. I could do it with antifreeze but I don't know how hard it would be to get that out of the drinking water.

Falcon35, I have an '09 G'twn with a Dometic 1350. Year no. one I followed the instructions in the manual...What a pain in the butt. Year no. 2 I ran antifreeze through the water disp. and ice maker 'till I saw pink. I had to cycle the ice maker a few times(use a screw driver per the manual). In the spring I ran freshwater through 'till it ran clear(again cycling the ice maker). I actually loosened the screws on the ice maker and dumped it in the ice bucket after each cycle rather than wiping out the mold with a towel. After that I sanitized the whole system, including the ice maker and water dispenser. It's was still a bit of a pain, but easier than the 1st year

I do have a 2011 Georgetown 378!! if you drain all the water out of the lines as I stated earlier you don't

Have to use anti-freeze. I would not want to drink the water or use ice that had antifreeze in it. (sorry about two post --hit "send" by mistake.

Unfortunately when your MH is stored in an area where temps can reach 0 degrees F or below, simply draining the water line isn't enough. You must blow the lines dry with compressed air. The alternative is to use propylene glycol anti freeze made for potable water systems. It is not poison, but you still need to make sure it is flushed out of the system. The compressed air method is more labor intensive. That's why the RV manufacturers and dealers use anti freeze.

After finding out what I have to do to winterize it I'm not sure I like "up town"

No argument here! I would have just as happy emptying ice trays, but the ice maker came with the unit, so I might as well use it. We actually don't use the water dispenser. We use a Brita filtered water pitcher.

When I blow out the water lines when winterizing, I turn on the ice maker just after pressurizing the lines. The ice maker should cycle as if it is filling for making ice and it usually blows out any water that is in the ice maker and line to it. Need to be careful though because it could get messy when the water is blown out.
