2019 Booking has begun.

First trip booked Algonquin Park July 27-June 2. Looking forward for warmer weather along with new camping Adventures. Our little man is finally getting big enough or old enough to enjoy the camping experience a little more. (3 this year) . Hoping to see some more wildlife except maybe mama bear and her cubs lol. You must be excited.

I think you’ve got your dates backwards.

Surprised

I am surprised you are able to book this late. Every serviced site in Jasper was booked right through the summer 3 weeks ago. You need to be online at 8am opening day or you don’t get a thing.

Enjoy your season!

I’m guessing that if you need to book that early to get a spot to get away from it all.....there’s too many people there already to qualify as getting away from it all.

Good point - however I think it is more a result of Liberal government policy in the 90’s. Sheila Copps was responsible for legislation that limited the commercial development of Jasper. As a result, Jasper has retained much of its charm from earlier times.

In truth, I would support a lottery system to limit access. Like it or not, the effects of world populations and globalization are impacting us all.

For now we can still enjoy our solitary hikes into the wilderness to see the physical wonders of our national park relatively impacted by people.

I think it has more to do with the wealth (borrowing power?) of this country.

Sweet, seven posts deep and we're already into politics. Nice! BTW, only molars and bowels can be impacted.

Unfortunately, I believe the largest campground in Jasper (Whistlers) will not open at all this year. The entire campground is being renovated, expanded, upgraded to accommodate all the campers (& fancy new, long rigs) on the road these days!
AND, I am not sure of this, but I think I heard Wapiti is undergoing the same next year.
There are several other campgrounds in the park, but not with services.

That's interesting. It's sure different in SK. Our booking system doesn't open until first week of April for provincial parks, starting with annual seasonals, then with a couple of parks opening up each day after that.

Anyway congratulations on getting that first trip booked!
