Alaska Hwy 1948

For those wanting to drive the Alaska Hwy., for those that have driven it and for those that complain about the bad roads, here is a glimpse of what it was like back then. Enjoy safe travels.

Driving from Dawson Creek to Edmonton in 1948

Wonderful photos!! I can't imagine towing our travel trailer over that road.

I came back to the lower 48 in 1973 and was 1100 miles of gravel road, rock got my windshield with only ten left and I had a rock guard plus I had my gas tank protected with a rubber mat. That was during the gas shortage, it was easier finding gas on the Alcan than in the lower 48

I went through all the photos and can recognize places I traveled through just this last summer. Thank you.
