To reinforce Alleyantique's comment regarding firearms in Canada.
Even if you are simply travelling through, on the way to Alaska, make arrangements through the Canadian Firearms Centre to obtain the obtain the proper authorizations.
Their telephone number is 1-800-731-4000 and follow the prompts.
My nephew was a CBSA officer before joining the RCMP and he was surprised at the number of US citizens who mistakenly thought they were OK, only to be turned around at the border, at minimum. Even a cartridge or shell casing can get you sent to "Secondary" for a detailed examination. And they know where all the hiding places are.

By now you know that a special converter isn't required in Canada. I'd like to make you aware of a National Park weight restriction for Highway 93a, aka the Icefields Parkway from Lake Louise (in Banff National Park) to Jasper (in Jasper National Park).

All recreational vehicles are allowed on the highway, but commercial vehicles such as trucks and u-hauls are restricted to 4550 KG loaded or 10,031 lbs.

Having driven that highway many times over the last 40 years in all types of weather, I would never tow an RV that exceeds this weight over that highway. Believe me when I tell you there are more than a few grades that will challenge your tow vehicle. The highest point on the highway is 6850 ft.

I don't want to scare you. That trip is arguably one of the best scenic routes in the world. But you want to be prepared at this time of year.

If you have a 4 wheel drive tow vehicle with mud and snow tires that is a good thing. I don't believe you would need chains for your RV (assuming you are towing).

Some campgrounds along the Parkway have probably closed. Others are dry camping only. The only refuelling station along the way, at the Saskatchewan River Crossing, may be closed so re-fuel in Lake Louise before taking this trip.

If you do break down cell coverage is spotty, but not to worry. There is still plenty of traffic including Parks Canada Wardens and maintenance staff plus the RCMP.

I hope this has helped. Welcome to Canada and have a great trip!

I'll leave you with this link.

300 people stranded on the Transcanada highway between Calgary and Banff for up to 15 hours yesterday. Saw this picture on our news, hope it’s no one on here.

OK, that's 23.2 inches for the rest of us. Almost 2 feet.

Where the heck is Bragg Creek?

Nevermind - Alberta

If you ever find yourself around these parts there are some really nice camping spots not too far from Bragg Creek - All part of K (Kananaskis) Country and less than an hours drive west of Calgary.

Hydro

We call it "Hydro", that derived from "Hydro Electric Power", referring to the method of generation- water driven turbines. Not all our plants are water driven, but the term was coined long ago and has become generic.

Cheers

God love 'em but I also get a chuckle when they say "right on". That's sucha throwback to the 60's , but seems so current with my northern brothers!!
Whenever someone makes fun of me as a Canadian, I go to the nearest hospital and get my feelings checked for free.

Cheers

Haha...seeing you don't have a profile I'm betting your a Canadian Expat!
We loved visiting Colorado.

Canada, the most expensive health care in the world with the longest wait lines. Being a Canadian with many American friends I have learned that Canada's health care system is not as good as we are lead to believe and the American Health Care system is no where near as bad as we are told. If you think health is free in Canada then they are giving away free RV's too.
