Bon Echo - Sawmill Bay site 121

What a find! What a weekend!
Been in dozens of private, provincial and national parks, but this site just ranked as #1 on our list in terms of campsite size, privacy and the view from an RV site.
If you are able to travel to central Ontario, this place is well worth the drive. Site 121 in the Sawmill Bay section of the Mazinaw Overview is the closest site to Mazinaw Lake/beach and overlooks the Mazinaw Rock (over 300 feet above the lake). Definitely, the largest site we've been on. Mazinaw lake is the second deepest lake in Ontario (476 feet deep).
Simply spectacular. The photos just don't do justice, but will give you an idea for the location and surroundings.
Welcome to Bon Echo Provincial Park

We're planning on reintroducing ourselves to Bon Echo this summer and always looking for site suggestions so thanks for that.

Up on the hill is a better choice. We where there last summer in June and the eaten alive by mosquitos in the lower campground. Nice park though!

Bon Echo is easily our favourite Provincial Park so far. We had Site 118 many years ago and it's the best site we've had there. Very big and private. But it's VERY popular and hard to get a good electric site when school is out. Blueberry season and the Fall are the best times to go. Anytime after early August, the bugs are not nearly as bad.

Looks like site #118 is now showing as restricted to 18'. We're about 25' open so this might be pushing it a bit.

Last time I was in Bon Echo I was with the Army out of Petawawa and we paddled assault boats across the lake and scaled the rock wall that is in your attached pictures. Brings back alot of memories. Will have to put that CG in the vault for a trip, relive old memories. Isn't that what camping is all about.

Great looking place. I could easily wake up there with a cup of coffee for the rest of my life.

Correction.... We had site 318 in Fairway, not 118 in Sawmill.

Finally was able to get this site this year after a few years of trying. We were there for 3 days starting on Canada Day and it didn't disappoint. The weather was impeccable for all 3 days with hardly a ripple on the water. This was perfect to try out the new SUP board I just purchased. Only regret now is I didn't do the reservation for 4 or 5 days when I had the chance.

This site is almost impossible to get for weekends and luckily this year it was open on a week I knew I would be on vacation so I took a shot. A couple other times in previous years I tried reserving when the site became available and exactly when the reservation system went online at 7am and was unsuccessful. This year I had 2 laptops ready to submit the reservation and was successful.

Looking forward to trying again when I retire and we won't be restricted to mainly weekends.

Happy camping

p.s. Site 115 has an almost identical view and the tree cover is easier to see through EXCEPT just below and impossible to remove from the view is 2 outhouses . I still might give it a try if 121 is booked on my next attempt.
