Cabot trail
We are heading up to do the Cabot trail in NS August 24-September 4.
And advice or good info I should have?

Get your self some GOOD hiking boots with ankle support. Other than that enjoy. I haven't been there since the mid 70s. I can't wait for this retirement stuff to kick in. Only nine more years.

Hiking boots?? Cabot Trail is a road that is paved all the way. Very scenic. I would recommend going clock wise as I think the views are better that way.

Like I said the last time I was hiking in NS was mid 70s and I needed some better boots. How things change. Paved? Who'd have quessed.

I grew up in this area, it's very scenic, I'm sure you will have a good time. Are you taking your A Frame ? and if so what do you have as a tow vehicle? There is several very steep mountains along this route, but most people get along fine… If you are staying at a camp ground it might be wise to book ahead. Let me know if I can be of further help.

Personally I feel the views are better going counter-clockwise. Also the grades are largely down hill going counter-clockwise & up hill clockwise.
Would recommend you drop your trailer before going. Also go as early as possible during the day. I was coming off the overnight ferry from
Newfoundland so hit the trail about 6:30am. No traffic & took about 4 hours to navigate. If you go later in the day you will be behind other
slow traffic and will probably take all day.

Just drove the trail. Yes there are a few tight turns and big hills.... but if you can drive your RV in any average campground, you’ll have no issue here. Even DW said this was a no big deal zone.
