I live 5 minutes down the road from Campark. Although I cannot say anything negative about it I would recommend Scotts Tent & Trailer Park. Almost next door to Campark.

I stayed at Scotts... a recent rain made it kind of muddy and there is that late night bar across the road with subwoofers thumping.
But, I too won't say anything negative.

DW and I stayed 5 days at Campark last August and it was a nice visit. There is a bus that stops outside the CG that takes you to the falls. We will definitely go back again. IMO the falls look better on the Canadian side and more to do.

I'll preface this by saying....

I'm sure I speak for all us Canadians, that we are so fortunate and happy to have you Americans as our closest allies and all the good times and places we can share.

That being said......I do believe we got the better side of the deal for taking in the sights of both the American Falls and the Horseshoe Falls.....together known as Niagara Falls. IMHO

No matter what side you can make it too......enjoy the sights, the people and everything the area has to offer.

Thats because you have a 180 degree opposed view of the American Falls as well. The US side is set in a NYS Park, while the Canadian side was developed as a touristy site. Niagara Falls State Park is the oldest state park in the United States. A couple pictures on this link will give you a view of the "natural" side. https://www.niagarafallsstatepark.com/ So, enjoy both I say!

And to my Canadien friends, don't forget to stock up on your libations before you head home, that way you still have some money left for the essentials.

Living on the West side of Rochester...I am always interested with places close by...so info on Campark or others in the area is great!

Stayed at Four Mile Creek early last year for our shake down trip. The loop you stay on is important as some loops have very sloped or un-level sites. There are a few "premium" sites I believe they call them that are on a cliff over looking the lake and looked very nice. Google maps and the website should help in choosing a good site. We did find little to do at the park however, if you like wine there are several places around to taste .

Good luck to both!

I stayed at Scotts back in 2008 as well. It was a plain, no frills place I thought. I am traveling with a 4 year old so the Campark looks like it had a nice play ground and kid stuff. I also will agree the Canadian side is nicer.

Now I have to decide to bring the cat or not... Very confusing to know what I need to have to cross with the furball.

I posted it years ago.. But Scotts was where we stayed next to a French couple that had rented a truck camper (did not know they did that). The man was outside trying to empty the black tank.. He had the hose hooked up and was looking down the other end. They were both looking confused, I asked if he needed help and a I got a dirty look and a remark in French (no idea what he said). I sat back and watched as his female friend opened the tank and dumped poo on he and her feet... OOPS! LOL

I agree that the Canadian side, at and near the Falls, is way too touristy, and priced accordingly. But I love the drive from the Falls up to Niagara-on-the-Lake and we've found a great family restaurant called Betty's on Sodom Rd. in the Village of Chippawa just south of Niagara Falls, ON that we go to every time we're in the area.

I'd like to see the Niagara Falls State Park but we won't be going stateside this year with our dollar being so low. It costs us a 31% premium. It should be a good deal for Americans coming over to this side though. Just make sure you exchange you money before coming over, or use a credit card because the vendors probably don't give you the best exchange rate.

X2 for Betty's. Found it last year on a trip out east and really enjoyed it.

Campark Resort in Niagra Falls, yay or nay?

We are looking at Campark, Yogi Bear-Niagara, and Sherkston for a summer trip. We are traveling with two kids (9&6). Does anyone have an opinion on which one is better? It would be nice to be near the Falls, however we are towing so we do have a car option.

We made reservations at camppark in July, they have a bus for a few $$ a day to ride right to the falls on the Canada side.

we stayed at Four Mile Creek - it is a pretty nice state park, and the price was better than the private campgrounds. You can see Toronto way way way in the distance across the lake. People bring chairs and blankets to sit on the lake shore and watch the sunset.
I would recommend the sites closest to the lake, though you pay a bit more for the view. They only have electric hookup sites. The first loop is a bit more open than the other loops. The bathhouses were clean. If I remember correctly, there are only electric hookups available but there are quite a few water spigots located throughout the campground.
Last year, there was a free shuttle that ran from Old Fort Niagara State Park (which is just 4 miles away) down into Niagara Falls that they were testing out - it may still be free. Getting into Niagara Falls was very easy from the campground. We had a great time and would go back to Four Mile Creek if ever in the area again.

I would be interested to get more info on the 4 mile creek park. We just got back and stayed at the KOA Niagara Falls (Lundy's Lane) which was a nice campground. But we would like to stay more north next time, closer to Niagara On The Lake/St. Catherines area, but have not found anything on line for options up there.
Lundy's Lane can be a bit seedy with the strip clubs across the street from Scott's Campground, and the road is in pretty poor shape, until you get past(west) of Camparks heading toward Townline road. All the other roads seemed to be in very good condition.

We would like to find a spot near the bike paths either in St. Catherines(Welland Canal), or NOTL areas. We really enjoyed NOTL, especially downtown and the vineyards/wineries. Looking to come back again soon.

We've camped a few times in Niagara Falls at a couple different parks including the KOA and Jelly Stone. We prefer the Jelly Stone because of the quality of the sites and activities for the kids. Wasn't very impressed with the one site I had at the KOA but maybe that was just luck of the draw. As I recall the KOA had 3 pools, 2 outside and 1 inside. 1 of the outside pools was for the younger kids. Both have wagon rides and sites are in the $70 - 80 range. We're actually back at Jelly Stone early next month.

Pics of Canpark look pretty good. May warrant a visit.
