Sandy McNabb is nice as are Blue Rock, Beaver Flats,Gooseberry, North Fork. Maclean Creek can be noisy with dirt bikes and quads. We also did a lot of camping at Wyndam Carseland but it was flooded pretty bad an was still closed last fall when I drove by there plus their store had burned down.

I'd stay just outside of Calgary, as you'll have much quieter and more picturesque campgrounds. Beaver flats, Paddy's flat are good in the Bragg Creek area (45 mins SW of Calgary). We also really like Bow Valley (45 mins west of Calgary). We prefer provincial parks, so check out

and Note, most are rustic camping, no power, water or sewer on sites.

Sandy McNabb is awesome!

If you are only looking a quick stay - Mountain View - Calgary, Alberta, Canada is nice and everyone I know who has stayed liked it.

Stayed at Calgary West CG Calgary West Campground - Enjoy Our Famous Western Hospitality! a few years ago. Up in the hills on the city limits off the TransCanada but still very close to Calgary. Very nice family place with views of Calgary and not far from the Olympic luge and ski jump sites.

Make sure you also go to the Drumheller Park Campground and let the kids look for (and see) dinosaur bones.

I also stayed at Calgary West CG and will never go back. We had a drive through site and it was so narrow our neighbour had their slide out and we could not use our slides because there was not enough room to open it. It was early in the season and the water was not turned on. The girl at the desk asked if we wanted a full service of unserviced site. We said full so paid full price ($45). When we got hooked up and realized there was no water went back to the office and complained. Her reply was we asked for full service and had to pay for full service. I explained that we had no water at site. She then replied that I should have filled my tank with the water hose located and back of office. I asked for a refund and was refused. Stayed at mountain view the following year. Much friendlier CG but a bit farther from Calgary.
