Canada national parks free entry 2017
This does not include camping fees. I'm not sure if this would apply only to Canadian citizens, but it does not say that. PS this is national parks only, not provincial parks.

My guess would be that they will not want to pay staff to sit in the booths to collect nothing and let people in for free, so chances are those entrance gates will be empty, but I may be wrong in that regard. My point being I can't see it being just for Canadian citizens.

It is free for anyone visiting a NP in Canada. Just pay for the site fees.

and they initiated a no alcohol rule a few years ago to curb the drunken debauchery.
but with the American dollar value against the Trudeau Loonie (or was that the Loonie Trudeau) that cost for fuel food and camp site fees will mean you will be staying for 50 to 60% less than in the States so its still a great deal.
Fundy National Park is home to the highest tides in the world.

Canadian National Parks Free Entry 2017
Its Canada's 150th Birthday in 2017 - Welcome. If its anything like they do in the Provincial Parks in such occasions there will be no stopping at the Park Entrances and more staff at the various campground gates, more programs etc. There may be more visitors but likely people will tend to stay longer as it saves you about $10 CDN or $7.00 Us per night. Most communities will be having their own 150th celebrations so maybe more Canadians will be travelling to their hometown or staying home to celebrate so more space for our US cousins to see our beautiful land!

what is free in 2017
I just returned from Nova Scotia & New Brunswick & stayed at two National parks. I bought a annual pass which will now expire end of October 2018 as next year is free. Th pass is a day pass if you like to the Parks - any camping is extra. Years ago I went skiing in Banff / Lake Louise & was told if my vehicle - a rental did not have window sticker I could be fined . I was staying at a hotel but still required a pass IF I was stopping within the park. I was explained if I was driving through & not stopping (does that include look outs ? (probably) .
If you camp let's say one night - you pay camp fee & park fee (roughly 25-30 $ & park fee 3-5 $) so after Jan 01 2017 you will pay just the camp fee.
My understanding is it will apply to everyone - citizen or non - citizen & I hope it does.
As far as camping goes it will probably increase revenues so in fact I don't think the Gov't of Canada is going to lose money .
The free entry will apply to places such as Halifax Citadel , Fort Louisbourg etc. For example because the "special" is not in effect yet but I bought a pass for effectively two years - I had free entry into Halifax Citadel which would have cost me $7.00 .
I think there is a general misunderstanding of what is free & what is not free. But camping rates are not even discounted next year

That's supposed to get me 50 % discount savings on camping but in the Natl Parks they seem to be concessionaire run and the fine print says Discounts may or may not be available from vendors. Great to camp for half off in the NFS camps though.

They will be tending the flock(s) as usual. They do a lot more than just collect a fee.

I wish you guys would come down here and take them back. The little buggers are protected here and they are damn sure mean up close.
The nice developed places here with water draw them in. Every office park I have been to is a a bio-hazard dropping zone.
I mean really? When walking you have to watch out for the finger size pellets those things leave behind. They block traffic and you will go through legal hades if you run one over.
To my northern neighbors I say, come get your birds...
If you want to cook one and bring it down, I could see things differently.

Here is the link to the Parks Canada web page where you can order your free 2017 Parks Canada pass - mailed free in Canada but not sure about to the US.
https://www.commandesparcs-parksorde...C150_admission
Camping fees for sites inside the parks still apply but entry to the park is free.

I just spoke with a representative of Parks Canada. The great offer is open not only to citizens and residents of Canada, but to citizens and residents of the United States and other countries as well.
Cindy and I just requested ours. The only information requested was name, address, phone, e-mail address on the Parks Canada website, http://www.commandesparcs-parksorder...et/en/parksb2c
