Change of plans? Pei or nova scotia

WE r still debating between pei or the bay of fundy nova scotia. Parrsboro area where we have some family.
Short list

Pei:

Cavendish koa pei
Cornwall koa
Crystal beach
Twin hores
Seal cove

For nova scotia:

Old shipyard with ocean front and wifi
Glouscap
Five island

Anyone has pros and cons or any storis about these?
This will be our first trip (2 girls, 3 dogs) a bit nervous about the long drive so i would like to plan as mich as possible so that there arent too many surprises durinf the road trip.

Cavendish KOA is a great place to stay in PEI. Most of the attraction are in the Cavendish area. Depending on the age of your girls they will enjoy going to Green Gables. There is a small amusement park on the opposite side of the road from the KOA. You will find that the gas stations in Que. are off of the highway. In Que. there is a rest area about every 50 miles. They are well marked and a great place to rest and if need get a coffee. The new highway in NB is 4 lane and again no services on the highway. We found that many CG in Que will allow dogs but the dog must be kept on your site and not walked through the park (what a pita). The drive across the bridge to PEI is great. Depending on how far you want to drive each day, you could drive from Kingston to the Grand Falls area in NB.

We were in PEI and NS in 2009. Our girl and boy were 6 & 4. We took the bridge to PEI and ferried off. The kids enjoyed the ferry ride! We stayed at the KOA, kids loved it, Marko Polo c.g. Is within a mile if the KOA is booked up. The anne of green gables was quite entertaining for everyone (didn't think i would get much out of it, i was wrong...).

We really enjoyed hopewell rocks, it is close to fundy national park. We didn't stay there but will for sure the next time!

The first time you go is to make your list for the next time! Way too much to see and do!

You can stay in the rest stops over night in quebec for free, Yogi Bear c.g. In n.b. was nice for the kids...

I saw a post once recommending taking the ferry from New Brunswick to Nova Scotia. He was saying that it saves about 8 hours of driving and costs about what it cost you in gas. Here is the link. Saint John, New Brunswick & Digby, Nova Scotia Ferry Service | Bay Ferries Limited

You may be able to do both this way.

I never checked for a trailer and truck but we called for a price to cross 3 years ago with the car and 5 passengers and at that time I think it was between 250 and 300 dollars one way.We weren't pressed for time so we drove.I think it cost 70 dollars for gas.

Well....... Probably a fuel surcharge on that as well.When we called I remember there was a fuel surcharge on the vehicle.

Wow! Too much for the ferry since we're heading to Parrsboro.
Seriously thinking about taking the route through Northern New York, Vermont, New Hampshire, Maine, New Beunswick then Nova Scotia.
Cross at Alexandria take 11 at Watertown, cross lake Champlain, take #2 the 89, then 2 then 95 ( i think) then cross into New Brunswick
Does that sound like a good route? I'm looking at Rand Mcnally road truck atlas and it's highlited in orange the whole way.
A little anxious about big hills and small roads but it sounds nice.
Or... i could twke highway 20 to anewbrunswick and so forth.

I always take the US route. It is very similar to highway 2 in Ont. It is a shorter route but will take longer then going highway 20. My first stop is Rogers campground in Lancaster NH. At Bangor Maine I head towards Calais Maine. I stay the 2nd night at St. Andrews NB. You could be in NS on the 3rd day. You might be able to go further each day. I stop every 2 hours for a break and try not to travel more then 350 miles per day.

Ok, we'll take that route. My cousin also travelled these routes aften from Ontario to NS and also suggested to take # 3 thru Tupper Lake and Lake Placid. A little leary about the hills and such, not sure what the terrain is like.
Should I just stick to the route you mentioned or is it just as safe to venture on 3? What is the US route? Would you be so kind to spell out the whole route for me ? :S

I took this route 2 years ago. Hope you can decipher it.

There are a few hill but no worst then going through Que. You could save some time and cross at Cornwall. Then take highway 11 to Rouses Point. If you go through Tupper Lake you will need to take a ferry across Lake Champlain. The information booth at the NY Vermont border was as old missile base. Good spot to stop for a rest and pick up info on Vermont. If you have lots of time Ben and Jerrys ice cream factory is a short detour from highway 2. There is a western village near Lancaster NH plus a Santa Village. There are campground near the Santa Village.

Beautiful area
We've toured a lot of Nova Scotia but never with a travel trailer, just driving and hotels. Been to all teh major areas including your neck of the woods.

We are just north of Kingston On and usually play in the Adirondacs, Finger Lakes, Maine and Cape Cod areas. We travel down east when we have more time. We spent 2 weeks touring Newfoundland last July. We plan on going back with the trailer when we are retired.
