First wknd of April 2015

Does anyone know of any campgrounds that will be open the first weekend of April. Anywhere 2-3 hours from Toronto. Looking to open up our trailer prior to a trip to the US the following weekend.
thanks!

You would be most hard pressed. Most do not open until May and Typically the everyone is up and at em on the May 24 weekend. The TWO KOA near Barrie do not oen till May. Not much help. Try the Provincial Park website to see if any are open.

Mews Lake in Algonquin is open all winter. First come first serve. Office closes at 16:30 so you need to regester the next morning. Office opens at 10:00. I suggest site 53 , right on the lake, big site with power. Sites on both sides are good too

Pinery PP, MacGregor Point PP are both open. We are going to Rondeau either 4-7 or the following weekend. If snow melts Pinery in March.

Valens Lake Conservation area is open 11 months of the year. We've been winter camping there for years. Milton heights is also open.

Mark J.........

Milton Heights has sites that are open all year. You mention looking for somewhere within 2-3 hours of Toronto. They are just West of Milton.

We've stayed there a couple of times, but never as early in the year as you're looking for.

Stay warm!!!!!!!!!!

Check out campgrounds in Ontario open all year. There are several not too far from Toronto.

For the past 10 years, I have tented the first or second weekend in February with 50-60 Army Cadets. Having retired from the Canadian Armed Forces Reserves (CIC) in Sept-14, this will be the first year I'm not in an Artic Bell tent.

I have been at the CG all winter. Renting a 4 season Dutchmen trailer (owned by the CG). Had planned to take our own trailer to a warmer climate but the wife first had a stroke late summer and had to have 2 operations. One to have a pace make installed and the second to have a clot removed from her neck. The week she was to have the second operation she fell and broke her hip.
Plus I was also a scout leader for many years and did my fair share of winter camping in tents and also lead-to. We always had our winter camp 3rd weekend in Feb. Taught the youth how to survive if lost in the woods. You have not camped till you taken a bath using snow.
